More Cards

I have been on a card making craze lately. Here are a few new ones for you to see.

This first card was made as part of a card sketch challenge on Faith Sisters. (sketch by Lucy Chesna.) As you can see, I'm still on my Cuttlebug Embossing Folder and Spellbinders Nestabilities kick! This pretty paper is from a Stampin' Up pack I purchased a year or so ago.

This card was part of my Cuttlbug Challenge on Crop Stop this past week. I love those Cuttlebug embossers! I used some Basic Grey from a 6x6 pad I had in my stash - Sultry I think. The Crop Stop weekly challenge for 1/22 was to use felt. So I cut some flowers out of felt with the Big Shot and an old Sizzix die.

This card is for the Crop Stop weekly challenge for 1/30. I'm hosting the challenge, which is to make an altered Rolodex card. I ended up using one to make this card. I used some scraps of Sandylion paper. That super cute bird is an Inkadinkado stamp.

This card is for the Card Sketch A Day site. I really loved the colors of this paper. And the ribbon has been in my stash for ages, waiting for the perfect project! I love the Cuttlebug Happy Birthday embosser, too. I will have more cards on this site in March, so check back!

This last card was made for the Crop Stop February newsletter. I wrote a product review on the Ranger Ink Liquid Peals, so my challenge was to actually use them on a project! I used them to give the paper flower a opalescent shine. I also used some Bazzill Bling paper, which I of course embosed with a Cuttlebug folder!

Vinatage Stamps

I love vintage stuff. (Or, as my husband says, old junk.) I love old books, keys, lace, postage, and so on. I especially love vintage-look stamps. I was digging through a box where I keep all my vintage-style stamps and trying to decide what to make with them, when my eye fell on my bag of MOSD products. So I ended up making these Valentine "cards" out of two 6x6 clear acrylic panels. (The acrylic was originally the 6x12 cover of a MOSD Big Boy album, but I cut it in half.)

Check back here in the next few weeks to see MORE vintage and romance inspired projects!

On-line Pals!

Since I've been connected to the scrapbooking and stamping on-line world, I've made some amazing friends. Some I have met in person, and they've become some of my best friends. Some I have yet to meet. And I am sure some, especially those gals from foreign lands, I will never meet. But we ARE friends, make no mistake. I love to meet new pals and talk about this amazing hobby. Lately, I've gotten some nice comments and compliments from new pals and yet to be pals, from everywhere on the 'net. And I just want to say THANKS girlies! And right back at ya!

In this vein, I was awarded a very cool blog award from my girl Bessie. Bessie and I are new pals, and have yet to get to know each other very well, but I am sure that will soon change! Thanks for the award Bessie! It rocks.

I want to award this super cool blog award to these ladies because they inspire me:

1. Lucy

2. Patter

3. Heather

4. Debbie

5. Vicki

I was also tagged by Dalis. I'm supposed to tag some other people, but, I've had some folks get mad at me for tagging them, so I'll just put this here as a challenge to everyone who visits...try this out for fun!

1. Navigate to where you keep your pictures, select the 6th folder, and the 6th picture in that folder.
2. Then post it on your blog with an explanation of the story behind the picture.
3. Tag 6 other people to do the same, and make sure you let them know about it.

Ok, here was what I found on the 6th folder. It's an altered wood box and matching album I made a year or so ago. Maybe longer. It is one of my all-time favorite projects. And I love the Daisy D's paper I used.

Last MOSD Sneakie Peekie!

This is my last MOSD sneak peek for the new CHA items. I hope you've had fun peeking this week!

My peek today is showing the new shaped pages (Perfectly Shaped Build a Book). Instead of making an album out of my pages, I made this banner.

I covered each shaped page with printed paper, and then attached a glitter letter and some other goodies. (Would you believe these letters were SILVER when I started out? I painted them with green alcohol ink!)

Each panel is attached to the next panel with large eyelets. I also punched some flowers from printed paper and misted them with glimmer mist, then shaped them to give them dimension.

This is a frosted bird from Maya Road. I added an eye with black Stickles.

Isn't this Making Memories paper cute?!

My favorite part of this banner is this handmade flower. I cut a scalloped circle out of paper, using a Nestabilities die, and then sprayed it with glimmer mist. While it was still wet, I wadded it up and shaped it. When it was dry it had some nice dimension. (I got this idea from Leah Fung's blog.)

This butterfly is an Autumn Leaves stamp. I stamped it twice, then cut both images out. I sprayed them with glimmer mist also, and scrunched them up. (I used Staz-On ink so that the ink would not bleed or run when it got wet.) I attached the two butterflies together with pop-dots to give dimension.

I hope you liked my sneak peeks this week! Check out the MOSD blog to see what else has been show-cased.

Thursday MOSD Sneaky Peek!

Today's sneak peek is not really a "trash to treasure" idea. It's more of a "cheap to cool" idea! I found these little white vases last year at the Target $ spot. They already had the Live, Laugh, Love printed on them. So I purchased a bunch of them. (Naturally - I am a hoarder!) Well, if you saw my tin yesterday, then you know I was digging into my MOSD Stick-Ons stash. One of the NEW Stick-Ons being unveiled at CHA are the 6x6 sheets of circles and sheets of stripes. I just used them as individual Stick-Ons instead of a sheet...and TA DA! These cute vases are now even cuter!

You can attach the Stick-Ons to glass, metal, ceramic, wood, and more! The possibilities are endless!

Don't forget to check the MOSD blog for more sneak peeks. And make sure you check the blogs of the rest of the MOD Squad (to the right) for their extra peekies!

MOSD Sneak Peek #3

Today's sneak peek is also a "trash to treasure" project. I found this cute tin on a shelf in my closet -originally it contained some chipboard or journaling tags or something. I thought it would make a cute gift for a little girl or even one of my scrappy friends!

I was looking through my MOSD goodies and saw these cool NEW Stick-Ons that MOSD is releasing at CHA - and thought...wow these are a really cool product with a ton of uses! These new Stick-Ons come in a 6x6 format and are designed to be covers for clear 6x6 acrylic pages. However, they can be cut apart and used in other ways! You can see that I cut the lattice Stick-Ons to fit the front of the tin. I added a flower Stick-Ons from the pictogram Stick-Ons set to the top of the lattice and then placed a bling flower on the center.

To jazz up the little tin, I tied a bunch of ribbon and fabric to the handle and then put some little notebooks and pens inside. All girly, all the time!

Here is a close-up!

Don't forget to visit the MOSD blog this week for more CHA Sneak Peeks!

MOSD Sneaky Peekie #2

The MOSD Sneak Peek today is Calendar Stick-Ons and 6x6 clear acrylic panels. The Calendar Stick-Ons come in several sizes and colors. There will also be dates, months, etc. available!

I decorated a small clipboard, which I purchased at a craft store for $1.99, with some Basic Grey paper (what else?) and a few flowers. Then, I attached the NEW 6x6 Calendar Stick-On (in brown) to the back of a 6x6 clear acrylic panel. The acrylic panel just clips onto the clipboard. (Funny how that works!)

The beauty of this project, is that you can write on the front of the acrylic calendar with dry erase markers! So you can change out your calendar every month! (I wrote the days of the week in permanent marker, so that they won't wipe off.) You can use this idea to make any size clipboard or message board! How cool is that?!

Don't forget to drop by the MOSD blog and see what other product is being revealed today! It's a good one! Don't miss it!

Midnight Oil Scrapbook Designs - CHA Sneaky Peekies

I promised you CHA sneak peeks of MOSD product...so here you are! This first product is called Long Division and is a 6x9 (approx.) album with clear covers and 5 tabbed inner chipboard pages. This is an amazing album, and the sky is the limit to what you can make with it! It comes with NO binding holes, so you can bind it in your style of choice.

I made a Homeschool Planner with one of the Long Division albums. Here is the front. I bound this album on the side using the Zutter Bind-it-All and some black O'wire.

And some inner pages.

And a side view. I had to add some extra pages to mine, but that's the GREAT part about being on the DT...extras!

I also made a beach album with another one of the Long Division Albums. This one is bound so that the album opens from the top. I also used clear binding rings - another NEW product!

Here are some inner pages.

Hope you enjoyed this sneaky peek. Go visit the MOSD blog for more! I'll have another new peek here tomorrow!

New Cards for my Card Stash!

Here are some cards that I made recently. I used the Apron Strings Designs January kit to make this first set. The flower on this card is a Basic Grey rub-on. I rubbed it onto white cardstock, then cut it out and attached it with some foam tape. I then added the sparkly flower chipboard sticker to the center.

This next card uses the Bo Bunny papers from the kit. I embossed the green paper with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder. (I think this card was inspired from a CTMH sketch idea.) Oh, I also inked the big brad and then added some clear embossing powder. When I heated it to melt the powder I got sort of a swirl effect. Sorta cool. I used the Cricut to cut out the scalloped paper. I love all my tools!

This next card is my favorite card of the set. It's all Basic Grey Granola paper. I embossed the blue background with the Distress Stripes Cuttlebug embossing folder. The small piece of blue was embossed with the Swiss Dots folder. I love all the texture.

I also made a tag from some scraps and some of the Tim Holtz metal goodies that I got for Christmas from my secret Santa.
This last card was for a sketch challenge on Faith Sisters. The paper is all Basic Grey Sultry. (Yes, I love BG paper!) I embossed the background with the Cuttlebug Divine Swirl Embossing folder. Then I sanded the paper a bit to reveal the white core. I cut the flowers from chipboard covered with paper. I used a Cuttlebug flower die.
Hope you enjoyed looking at my cards! Stay tuned for MOSD CHA sneak peeks starting tomorrow! The MOSD Mod Squad will have peeks on the MOSD blog starting tomorrow (I post on Fridays), but I will have my own sneaky peekies all week on this blog!

Blog Awards

I haven't had time to post these until now. I was given two blog awards recently. The Kreativ Blogger Award was given to me by Vicki. She's such a wonderful supportive gal. Thanks for the award Vicki! Go see her blog - she's super creative!

I'm supposed to list 6 things that make me happy, and then pass this award on to 6 friends. So, eating chocolate, scrapbooking, reading, kissing hubby, hanging with my kids, and drinking a cold frosty Coke makes me happy! And Lori, Connie, Mary Francis, Kristi, Louisa May, and Vicky deserve the Kreativ Blogger Award!

My new cyber pal Bessie awarded me the Your Blog is Fabulous Award! Thanks Bessie! I love the blinkie!Bessie tells me that I'm to list five addictions and then pass this on to five other people. Well, addiction is a strong word, but...I guess I'm addicted to scrapbook shopping, rubber stamps, reading, the smell of babies just after they get a bath, and Coke. Now, for five FABULOUS blogs - I picked blogs that have a ton of stuff on them. These are not really "friends," but are blogs I love to visit for inspiration. Tim Holtz, Leah Fung, Cuttlebug Challenge blog, Amy, and Mary.

Thanks girlies, for the awards! I love them!

More Apron Strings Designs Layouts

Here are the rest of the layouts I made from the January Apron Strings Designs Kit. The papers were a great selection of Bo Bunny and Basic Grey.

I used the January sketch to create this layout. You can find the sketches in the resource section of the website. I needed a scrap of the blue cardstock for my date, so cut some from behind the striped paper! You can't tell and it's a great way to make your paper stretch! And notice, I got 10 photos on this 2-page layout. Amazing!

This next layout is super simple and shows my father-in-law with my youngest son (photo taken in 2002). My FIL thinks scrapbooking is "messing up good photos with all that junk" so I went simple here. (Fat lot he knows, right?!) I did use Cricut Design Studio to weld my letters for the title!

The next layout uses only ONE piece of paper! Can you believe it? Not even cardstock to mat the photos. Way out of my box, that's for sure! I did use a printed transparency around the photo of my husband and me. (Yep, that's my honey and me in Paris in 2007.)

I love this double-page layout. The Basic Grey Granola paper was perfect for these photos of our camping trip Camo Night party. My inspiration was a Page Map sketch.

Stay tuned, as I have MORE projects to show you from this kit! And I still have leftover supplies! No extra paper was injured in the making of these layouts...it's all from the kit!
ETA: The January 2009 Newsletter is up! Go see all the cool stuff!

Faith Sisters Scripture Challenges

If you've not checked it out yet, zip on over to Faith Sisters and check out the Scripture Challenges for 2009. Tuesday's Blog post shows all the current challenges!

I'm participating in several challenges by making a Scripture Rolodex! I purchased this type of Rolodex from Staples Office Supply, and am filling it with altered cards.

Here is my title card for the His Holy Name Challenge, and my card for Week 1 (Holy).

I've also included the text by Jean Nystrand, Executive Director of Bible Study Fellowship in my Rolodex.

I also participated in the Firm Resolutions in Christ Challenge by making these cards. Each card contains one resolution for the year, with a scripture to help me pray about each topic.

And in the My Prayers for You Challenge, by making a 12x12 layout of my friend's daughter, and also by making a title card and a Week 1 card for the Rolodex. (Bible-dex?)

As a bonus, personal project, I (with a group of scrappy friends - hey Triple "S" Sisterhood!) have selected a "word for the year" to pray about. I chose the word "PEACE." And here is my first card based on that word.

I hope you enjoy looking! And that you are inspired to start your own Bible-dex! This will be very handy on my desktop or nightstand - I can just grab a card and say a prayer or memorize some scripture!
