Practical Scrappers April Sketch

The second Friday of every month I create a card sketch for Practical Scrappers. You can link your card up at the PS site. Here is my sketch. This is another variation on my "Gloria style." I like to make 5x5 cards and use ribbon, so this sketch fits the bill!

I used more paper from a Basic Grey Kioshi 6x6 pad. I am not big on lavender, but really liked the look of this paper combination.

I colored the My Favorite Things image with Copics and paper pieced the umbrella. The weekly challenge at Practical Scrappers for this week is to use markers, so you can make your card do double duty, and be like me! And let's face it, who doesn't want to be like me?! (snort giggle snort)

I also used my new Stampin' Up border punch and Martha Stewart butterfly punch. Love my punches. I am so happy they have made a come-back. I've been doing paper crafting for so long that all the old school stuff is new again! Which makes me doubly happy that I am a hoarder!

I created a ribbon rose bud out of some very old ribbon...this stuff has been in my stash since my Ben Franklin Crafts days when I lived in Minnesota...so that goes back to 1998! The little greeting stamp is Close to My Heart. So, here is another example of me using NEW products and tools with old items. The key to making good use of those items you have in your stash is to combine them with hot-off-the-press products!

Speaking of Copics, I am taking a class tomorrow with Jenny Black, who is a Copic queen and regional certification instructor. I emailed her a few months ago begging her to come to this area, and got an email back a week or so ago telling me that she was indeed teaching locally! I can't take credit for getting her here, but I am super happy she's coming to teach! I signed up (at Jazi Crafts) and plan to attend the class on Saturday morning! I am super excited to learn new techniques.

  1. Great Sketch, Gloria!
I hope I'll get some time to play with it (or maybe I'll transfer it to scrapbooking... just a "rebel" way of thinking, LOL).
