Long-awaited Graphic45 Reveal

Do y'all remember back in February, when I had to make a FINAL project for the Graphic45 Design Team contest? Remember that? And I could not show anyone? I've been sitting on that project since I made the team in April. Well, I can now show it to you! (Are you jumping up and down?)

I knew if I were to have a prayer of making the team I needed to make something super fab! So....what I made was a paper box and a matching 6x6 card. This is an over-the-top project perfect for a special birthday or a wedding gift card or something.

I created a box out of black cardstock and then covered it with Graphic45 Domestic Goddess Lady of the House paper. Plus a boat load of mulberry paper roses, pearls, and ribbon. All the flowers have been Glimmer Misted or Stickled!

It's hard to see all the glimmer and shimmer in the photo, but in real life...those flowers were fantastic!

Here is a side view of the box. I trimmed it out with G45 Le' Romantique Key to My Heart papers and a scallop border cut with a Martha Stewart punch. Plus some Close to My Heart grosgrain ribbon.

When you take the lid off the box, you reveal the card nestled inside...

I placed the card on top of tissue paper, which I hand-dyed with Glimmer Mist and color wash. My backyard was covered with tissue paper. I was so lucky that we didn't have any wind that day! The tissue paper is glimmery and shimmery.

The card is a masterpiece of techniques and yummy elements. My oldest son (the 18yo) told me that he was so impressed with how I captured the style and era of the paper perfectly. He was blown away by the dress form element. The kid has good taste, right?! The dress form is actually a page from a Maya Road album.

I dressed "her" in G45 paper, plus added all sorts of ribbon, trim, flowers, pearls, pins, etc. All of the paper for the card is from the Le' Romantique line. Below is a close-up of the dress.

I used a bunch of techniques for the small elements. I coated the small images with UTEE, then cracked them to make them look like old glass or porcelain. I dipped the circle element in glitter. I jazzed up the flowers with Stickles.

When you open the card, a gift card holder is revealed. I made an envelope out of shimmer paper, sized to fit inside the card, but large enough to hold a standard gift card. I then added some other elements to make it match the outside of the card.

Alas, none of you will be getting this on your birthday...because it's in Portland, at Graphic45. {wink} But, there you have it...my final project that helped me earn a spot on the 2010 Graphic45 Design Team...may I remain worthy of the spot!
