365 Cards Day 197

Somehow it's a new week and time for the 365 Cards Monday Challenge! We have a sponsor again this week - DRS Designs Rubber Stamps. Stop by and check out their fab images!

I used the Fall Fence stamp. The stamps are very nice rubber, and come either wood mounted, unmounted, or cling mounted. I prefer the cling mount as I can use them with my acrylic blocks. I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then colored it with Copic markers and colored pencil. The background is Faded Jeans distress ink and Copic marker.

The paper is Bella Blvd and October Afternoon from various Apron Strings Designs kits. I've had the Bella Blvd for a while and finally found a chance to use it!

Check out the wrinkle ribbon! I made it myself! Read to the end of the post to see how. The pin is a Maya Road leaf pin that I colored with Copics. It was green, but I made it sort of an orange to match the fall theme of my card.

The card has lots of layers, as always. I go through a lot of cardstock!

This card is also for Paper Sundaes challenge #35; they asked for a minimum of three types of embellishments. I have a button, a pin, ribbon, and twine.

Check out all my wrinkle ribbon! I spent some time over the weekend making up a few colors. I've used most of it already, and need to make another batch!

To make this fabbie ribbon, you need 5/8" RAYON seam binding. I have no idea what you use this stuff for normally (to bind seams?) but it makes fantastic wrinkle ribbon! I purchased a 100 yard spool from Charles Zarit Sewing Supply for about 13 cents per yard. I purchased the natural color so that I could dye it. I am not sure the "correct" way to make this, but this is how I did it:

1. Place a length of seam binding into your "spray zone" and mist it lightly with water.
2. Using re-inker mist or glimmer mist, spray your binding to the desired color. I used distress re-inker mixed with water, Glimmer Mist, Chalk Glimmer Mist, etc. It was fun to experiment with colors!
3. Crumple the binding into a wadded ball and allow to dry. I used my heat tool to help the ribbon dry and to set the ink and mist.
4. Use as you would ribbon. However, this ribbon may not be "color fast" so test it before using it on a project where the ribbon could get wet and bleed ink everywhere!

Note: Look at the fantastic bouquet of flowers my palies at Christian Paper Crafts sent me the other day! They knew I was having a rough week last week, and sent this bouquet to cheer me up! They are the BEST! Thanks, girls. You are the most amazing women!

  10. Love, love, love the ribbon. Any thoughts on how to purchase just a few yards - starting with 100 yds seems too much for me. Anyone know where I can get that?
