Happy Birthday, Sister!

If you are looking for the Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge post, click HERE.

My sister's birthday is December 2nd. I won't out her and tell you how old she is, but she is WAY older than me. Just sayin'! Happy Birthday, Sis! Here is a project just for you!

Ok, the project is really for my post day on the Imaginarium Designs Blog, but let's not quibble! My husband took this photo of my sister and me in October when we were on vacation together. I think this is the first photo we have had taken of the two of us in over 10 years. It is not the best photo, but I love it anyway! (I am the younger sister, with dark hair, on the left...)

I tried to use some of my sister's favorite colors and some of mine. I altered a bunch of  Imaginarium Designs chipboards to decorate my layout.

I painted the window, then rubbed three colors of metallic pigment ink into it. I have been hoarding the window for my whole DT term. I finally found the project I wanted to use it on! I painted the mini frame and rubbed it with Sapphire Silk metallic ink. I painted the bird cage and the flourishes and sprinkled them with glitter.

I sprayed the butterflies and the vine flourishes with mist. I wanted some things to be flat and some to sparkle. It makes a great contrast. You can see a bit of the hexagon stamp that I added to the background paper. Love!

I trimmed the bird cage and added it to the window. It is bowed out a bit, adding extra dimension.

I inked the letters and embossed them with black embossing powder. I wanted them to look a bit distressed. The look is easy to achieve, since I tend to drop them and touch them and mess up the embossing!

Thanks for joining me today. This is my last post as part of the Imaginarium Designs team. Sadly, I won't be trying out for the new term. I have had a BLAST creating with them for the past year and wish the NEW team all the best!

Happy Birthday, Christine! You are the BEST sister a girl could have. Hope your birthday is wonderful.

  2. This is a beautiful photo of you and your sister. My family had not had a group photo for 10years until Sept. This year, when we had another one, which was a good thing because just four weeks later my husband passed away, but I have this photo of all of us together for which I am very grateful. Take lots of photos because you don't know what tomorrow will bring. Regards and best wishes to you I have enjoyed your work on the design team.

Sister is probably the most competitive relationship
within the family, but once the sisters are grown, it becomes the strongest relationship. See the link
