CHA Reveals - Couture Creations

I still have a few more CHA projects to share with you. I made this batch of cards for Couture Creations/CSW Distributors. This is their new Dream Boat Collection of "3-in-1" products. The collection combines stamping, embossing, and die cutting!

My goal for this collection was to show as many ways of using the items as possible. I wanted to think past simply "stamping, embossing, gluing on die cut shapes" and show how versatile this collection is.

For the display board I decided to make two cards with each 3-in-1 set; I made a feminine card and a masculine card for each set. (Masculine is stretching it a bit with some of the sets, but I did my best!)

Butterfly Notes:

I spent a lot of time playing with the sets to figure out which techniques would showcase each set the best, and also which paper combinations would work the best.

To create this card, I first stamped the card with black dye ink using a background stamp from my stash. Then, I inked the embossing folder with Ranger Distress ink and embossed the image. The ink only "stuck" to the debossed areas of the card. The combination of stamping, inking, and embossing makes the embossed parts of the card really stand out!

For the masculine version, I stamped the bottom of the card with the matching stamp set, then embossed with the folder. It was a little tricky to line my paper up, so I rubbed a bit of white ink over the top. I cut the smaller butterfly and the flower from printed paper and inked the edges with blue ink. I glued the die cut shapes over the embossed parts at the top of the card.

Doilies:

This set combines very intricate and detailed stamps and die cut shapes.

I stamped the doily image onto the kraft paper, then heat embossed with white ink and embossing powder. I achieved stunning results!

For this version, I embossed the cardstock with the folder, then stamped with a script  background stamp from my stash. I used gentle pressure to make sure I only stamped onto the raised areas of the paper! I used the die cut templates to create a medallion for the card.

Ornate Frame:

This set comes with some lovely butterfly die cut shapes.

I stamped the image onto printed paper and then added a few butterflies die cut from cardstock. Very simple and elegant.

Masculine cards can be hard to make, but this one is so simple that you can make a batch of them in no time! I simply embossed the cardstock with the folder. I used Core'dinations cardstock, so I was able to sand the top of the paper to reveal the kraft core. Very grungy and masculine!

Floral Wreath:

This was such a beautiful set to work with.

I stamped the image with white ink, then heat-embossed with white embossing powder. Once the embossing was cool to the touch, I embossed the image with the matching embossing folder. I fussy cut the bottom edge, and added a bit of printed paper. I stamped the medallion into the center, then die cut some of the matching shapes out of paper to add to the stamped shape.

I used the same technique for this version, except I stamped with watermark ink and heat-embossed with Ranger Distress embossing powder for a more grungy look. I die cut some printed paper for the center. I fussy-cut the bottom part of the embossed image and slipped the music note paper behind it.

Pattern Quilt:

The possibilities for this set are endless!

I simply embossed the cream cardstock with the embossing folder. I trimmed out the portion of the embossed image that I wanted to use and rubbed it with blue chalk ink. I then embossed blue Core'dinations cardstock with the top portion of the folder and trimmed it out with a border punch. I then sanded the cardstock to reveal the white core. I stamped one of the sentiments from the matching stamp set and trimmed it out with circle die cut templates.

For the masculine version, I stamped onto metal with the matching stamps, then I embossed using the embossing folder. I die cut one of the flower shapes and rubbed it with ink.

Party Time:

I confess, this set is the least "me" of all the sets, yet I loved the cards I made with this set the most!

I embossed the kraft cardstock with the embossing folder. I then rubbed pink chalk ink over just the raised areas of the embossed image. Once the ink was dry I rubbed watermark ink over the top of the entire panel before heat-embossing with glitter embossing powder.

I stamped the matching cupcake image onto cream cardstock and colored it with alcohol markers. I die cut the tiny bow from printed paper and glued it to the cupcake stand. I also stamped one of the matching sentiments onto cardstock, rubbed it with chalk ink, then die cut it out to make a tag. Adding a big pink bow makes this a party invitation fit for a princess!

For this version, I embossed the kraft cardstock with the folder, then rubbed the raised areas with white ink. I stamped the small cupcake stamps from the matching set with brown dye ink onto each of the open circles on the embossed image. I added one of the matching sentiments, and then cut out some banners from printed paper to string across the top of the card.

Note: all printed paper, except for what was used for the Floral Wreath set, is from Graphic 45.

Now, if you have read through all of that post, you deserve a little tutorial! Here is the sample board of the little make-n-take project I designed for the Couture Creations booth at CHA!

I created business card holders from shipping tags. Cute, right? Click HERE for the tutorial!
