Altered Canvas - Hampton Art

Hello, crafters! I have an altered canvas piece, which I made for Hampton Art, to share today. Hampton Art licenses the 7 Gypsies line of stamps, plus there is a grouping of products from  7 Gypsies and Canvas Corp (along with Tattered Angels)  that tie in with the stamps. I was sent a whole box of goodness to play with for a spring craft event at Michael's Crafts! Which means you can find many of these products at your local Michael's!

This is one of those projects that is just super fun to make! You can be messy and artsy and just go crazy! I actually used the cover of a chipboard book as the base of my project - which also means I have all the other pages stashed away to use for other projects - win win! Plus, there are times when I have a product that I just don't want to use for its intended purpose! {wink}

To make this project, follow the steps below. I have tried to add links to the various products for your shopping ease! {grin}

1. Remove the front cover from the 7 Gypsies 5x7 Vertical Naked Book to be used for our canvas plaque. Set the other pages aside for a future project.

2. Using various colors of spray mists, spray a sheet of printed canvas. Allow to dry.

3. Using a strong adhesive, attach the canvas to the plaque. Wrap to the back and attach. Using the book cover as a guide, punch new holes into the canvas.

4. Edge the canvas with black pigment ink. Allow to dry.

5. Trim designer paper to 5x7 inches and attach to the back of the plaque.

6. Using Frosted White pigment ink, stamp the Harlequin Background image onto the upper left corner of the canvas. Allow to dry.

7. Stamp the Harlequin Background again onto black cardstock with Frosted White pigment ink. Allow to dry, then cut out with sharp scissors. Glue to the lower left corner of the canvas.

8. Stamp the "best thing" sentiment onto canvas paper with black pigment ink. Emboss with clear embossing powder. The embossing powder will be absorbed into the canvas, however this will "set" the ink. Trim the image and mat with black cardstock.

9. Attach the image to the lower right of the canvas as shown.

10. Using various papers from one of the Gypsy Packs, cut flowers using a die cutting system and templates. (Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms, Grand Peony Creations, Rose Creations)

11. Lightly mist the flowers with spray mists and allow to dry.

12. Using Rouge and Almost Black mists, spray the 7 Gypsies ruby and white velvet flowers.

13. Assemble a flower as shown, using strong, white glue to attach them. Glue the flower to the left edge of the stamped sentiment. (Note, you may use a pre-made dimensional flower if you choose.)

14. Tie a length of heavy twine through the holes at the top of the canvas to create a wall hanging.

Have a great day, and go make a crafty mess!
