Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge #79

Well, it is September 1st, and time again for a Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge! It is also my husband's 47th birthday! So, happy birthday to the BEST husband on the planet!

This was taken June 2012 when we were in Alaska. Matt and I have been a couple for 28 years. Our 26th wedding anniversary is on Thursday! Today is also my brother-in-law Peter's birthday. He is Matt's older brother. They were born on the same day, but several years apart. How crazy is that?!

Now, on to the challenge! The NEW Challenge is make a project that celebrates back to school, plus ribbon!

I love school. I love school-ish things. I love this Graphic 45 school-themed paper! And, I love ribbon. So I am in card heaven right now! I created a card with a gift pocket on the inside, perfect to give to your favorite student!

This year I have two kids in college and a homeschooler in middle school. I may give this card to one of them....or not....since, as the teacher, I think I should get a card now and then, too. Right?!

I made one of my "button-twine" bows. I tied a bow with Poppy Red Double-faced Satin. This shade of red is on the orange/tomato side of red. I then wrapped some of the Natural Jute String around my fingers to form some loops. I tied the loops in the middle to create a messy bow. I glued the jute bot on top of the ribbon.

I found some faux wood buttons in my stash, and I tied one with Red Hemp Cord. I tied a bow at the back of the button, and then glued the button on top of the jute string. There you have a messy, button bow!

I love the sentiment (Taylored Expressions). I LOVE to read! My mom claims that I could read by the age of 2. I don't remember learning to read, which means she may be right! I read every day! If I have to stay up until the wee hours to get my reading fix, I will.

I stamped the sentiment onto black cardstock in white ink, and then embossed it with white embossing powder. It is a great chalkboard look! I have found that there are many sentiment stamps in my stash that give the chalkboard look. Happy day!

I added a gift card holder and more of the jute and hemp to the inside of the card. Plus I found a cute sentiment to stamp onto the kraft cardstock. If I am lucky, someone will fill the gift card holder with a Barnes and Nobel gift card! {Grin}

I don't know how you do it, but you can manage to be trendy and vintage at the same time. You've created your own unique look: Vintage Fresh. And I love it! Happy B'day to your honey! And an early Happy Anniversary. We're in year 37....it's been grand!
