Color Throwdown #283

I am back with another Color Throwdown project! I am the March Guest Designer, and I am having a blast playing with the chosen colors each week!

This week, when I saw the orange, I instantly knew what to do! I have had Basic Grey Ambrosia paper hoarded in my stash for YEARS! It has the BEST orange and gray color scheme! Every now and then, I get it out and use a bit of it, but I love it so much that I am afraid to use it all up!

I created a "friendship" card using the color scheme. The green paper is not the best match for the color scheme I was given, but at least it's green! It is actually from another hoarded Basic Grey collection called Oh Baby.

I love using dark gray instead of black. It is a softer color, and goes well with both bright colors and pastels. I am almost out of my stash of gray cardstock and hope to get my grubby hands on more soon!

I used some flowers from my stash. Orange is a rough color to match, but I think I did ok. I used some punches to punch butterflies from some of the paper. Very spring-like. It is always either spring or summer here in San Diego!

When I create a flower cluster, I like to use some of the stems as "twirls." I wrap the stems around a paper piercing tool to curl them, and then glue the "twirl" to the flower arrangement. (I am sure there is a florist term for those curly bits!) I topped the whole thing off with some fabby gray ribbon from RRR!

Here is the inside. Ok, so I love clear stamps, but sometimes they get all wonky when I put them onto the clear block. And I don't notice until it is too late.

Make sure you go to the Color Throwdown blog to see what the DT has made. Here is the list of Color Throwdown bloggers. Make sure you check them out!

  3. Love the energy and vibrant colors in this beautiful card! The flowers are perfect...you used enough different shades to make them "match". Smart move...why am I not surprised! Thanks for the great tip on using flower stems. You are such a hoarder...even the flower stems go to use. And...the sketch is awesome. You are one in a million, my friend!

  13. Hi Gloria! You are so sweet to leave such a nice comment on my CHACB post : ) I do love looking through your elaborate cards as they are, like you mentioned, different than the ones I create. There's so much to look at and appreciate, and I can only imagine what it would be like to hold one in person. I'm with you 100% on using charcoal vs. black. I get so nervous when I check my remaining stack of charcoal. The colors you've chosen for this card are just scrumptious!
