Heartfelt Creations - Semifinalist Project #3

I am continuing my Heartfelt Creations semifinalist submission share. This is the third of my four projects. If you click HERE you can see a simple card, and HERE to see a page layout.

I wanted to make sure to show Heartfelt Creations that I was able to use their products in a variety of ways, using a variety of techniques. I chose to share a faux watercolor technique with this card.

I think stamping with white ink and embossing white embossing powder is such a striking combination. However, I wanted to "spice it up" a little bit. I not only stamped and heat embossed, but I "water colored" the image. I also created dimensional flowers using the same technique.

Trim black cardstock to 5 x 12 inches. Score at six inches to make a top-fold card. Trim printed paper to 4 7/8 x 5 7/8 inches. Rub edges with Distress ink and attach to the card front. Trim plaid paper to 4 7/8 x 2 inches, rub edges with ink, and mat with black cardstock. Attach plaid strip to the center of the card.

Trim tag shape from off-white cardstock, approximately 3 1/2 x 5 inches. Stamp sunflower patch image onto the tag with white ink and heat emboss with white embossing powder. Rub over the image with distress inks, then wipe with a damp paper towel or baby wipe to create faux watercolor. Mat tag with black cardstock and attach to the right side of the card with foam squares.

Stamp classic sunflower image with white ink and heat emboss with white embossing powder. Rub over the image with distress inks, then wipe with a damp paper towel or baby wipe. Cut flowers using the matching die. Form flowers and add three to the center of the stamped image.

Stamp sentiment onto off-white cardstock with brown ink. (Please note that the sentiment comes in one long strip. I stamped each part of the sentiment separately to create this look.)
Trim sentiment into a circle and mat with black cardstock. Attach to the bottom left corner of the tag with foam squares. Add four small flowers around the edges of the sentiment circle.

Create a bow from seam binding and attach to the upper right corner of the tag. Add a twine bow and a wood button. Trim light colored printed paper to 4 7/8 x 5 7/8 inches. Rub edges with ink and attach to the inside of the card.

Use the remaining flowers to create a matching tag. Trim off-white cardstock into a 2 1/2 x 4 3/4 inches tag shape. Stamp sunflower patch image onto the tag with white ink and heat emboss with white embossing powder. Rub over the image with distress inks, then wipe with a damp paper towel or baby wipe to create faux watercolor. Rub tag edges with brown ink and mat with black cardstock.

Glue three flowers left over from the card project to the center of the tag.

Trim ticket image from printed paper and attach to the left edge of the flower. Tie seam binding through the hole in the top of the tag.

I hope you enjoyed looking at my faux watercolor card and tag. This is such an easy way to add soft color to your projects.

I want to take a moment to remember my dad. Pop would be 86 today. I hope that they have angel food cake in heaven, because that was his favorite. Pop passed away from complications relating to leukemia in July 1997. I sure do miss him!
