Heartfelt Creations - Semifinalist Project #4

This is the last of my Heartfelt Creations semifinalist submissions. If you click HERE you can see a simple card, HERE to see a page layout, and HERE to see faux water coloring.

For this last project, I wanted to share a mixed media/altered piece. One of the stipulations for being on the team is the ability to make one altered item per month, therefore I wanted to show that I was able to do that with Heartfelt Creations products.

I created a 6 x 8 inch banner hanging. The banner is actually a page of a mini album. I tend to collect things, use parts of them, and then I have left-overs gathering dust! I decided to take this panel and create some altered art with it.

Coat chipboard banner with gel medium and attach printed paper. Smooth with a brayer and allow medium to dry. Use a craft knife to trim around the edges of the banner. Ink the edges with Distress ink. Use modeling paste and stencils to add dimension to the paper. When the paste is dry, spray some areas with mist and ink others with Distress ink. Allow inks to dry.

Trim image from printed paper with circle die template. Mat with doily shape cut from black cardstock. Attach image to the center of the banner with foam squares.

Create approximately 11 flowers of various sizes. Stamp both the Classic Sunflower and the Sun Kissed Fleur images with brown dye ink onto off-white cardstock. Color all flowers with Copic markers. Color some of the petals green to mimic leaves. Use the Classic Sunflower and Sun Kissed Fleur dies to cut out the flowers. Shape the flowers and glue some in layers to form larger flowers. Arrange flowers over the pre-printed image, allowing a bit of the original image to peek through. Cut the green petals apart and shape into leaves. Add as desired.

Color two ladybugs with Copic markers and attach. Trim the sentiment from printed paper and attach to the left edge of the main image. Place grommets trough the holes at the top of the banner and add a length of ribbon for a hanger.

I hope that my Heartfelt Creations reveal has been fun. They will reveal the NEW 2014-2015 team on October 29th, so join me in the wait! {bites nails} Make sure you stop by the HC website to see the new collection, All Geared Up.
