Really Reasonable Ribbon October Blog Hop Guest

Good morning, Blogger Peeps! I am the special guestie for the October Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog Hop, which starts at the RRR Blog! I want to thank Bonnie for inviting me to play along again this month! It is always fun to play with ribbon!

In fact, you should be coming to my blog from the Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog. (For the complete blog list, scroll to the bottom of the post.)

Here is a peeky at the RRR October Ribbon Club Assortment

I am a huge fan of traditional Christmas colors! I especially love the red and green plaid!

I decided to make something a bit more interesting than a card to share with you. This is a 5 x 6 x 1/2 inch "folder." This project makes a great gift card holder, or a folder for a music CD, or a place to put photos and a Christmas letter.

I used Graphic 45 'Twas the Night Before Christmas papers because they are all red and green and lovely! The red and green plaid ribbon was perfect! I created a pleated border with the ribbon, that looks like luscious ribbon candy!

To create the folder, cut red cardstock to 6 x 10 1/2 inches. Score at 5 and 5 1/2 inches. Trim two 12-inch lengths of red and green plaid ribbon and attach them to the cardstock covers, front and back. This becomes the closure for the folder.

Trim Happy Holly Day paper to 5 7/8 x 10 3/8 inches. Rub edges with ink and attach to the outside of the folder. Use Graphic 45 gold washi tape to cover the spine, adding strength to the paper. (This is the back of the folder.)

Trim approximately 18 inches of red and green plaid ribbon. Using double-sided tape, pleat the ribbon along the edge of the washi tape spine.

Add a few flowers, leaves, and berries to create a seasonal cluster at the top left edge of the folder. Trim the sentiment from printed paper and attach to the right of the cluster.

Trim the image from the Long Winter's Nap printed paper and attach to the folder with foam squares.

For the inside of the folder, create two pockets to hold tags, journal blocks, photo mats, or other items. Trim the Bundle to Toys paper to 5 7/8 x 10 3/8 inches. Rub edges with ink and attach to the inside of the folder. Use a Kiwi Lane template (Clara Lane 1A) to trace "snow hill" shapes from the Bundle to Toys reverse. Ink the edges.

Use the paper shapes to make pockets by applying adhesive to the three straight sides of the paper. The left pocket is approximately 3 3/4 x 4 7/8 inches. The right pocket is approximately 5 7/8 x 3  1/2 inches.

Trim border strip from Ho Ho Ho paper, ink edges and add the strip to the top of the folder. Trim tags and journaling blocks from Up on the Housetops and Long Winter's Nap paper. Add ribbon to the tag shapes. Add chipboard elements to the pockets. Tie ribbon to the chipboard tag.

If desired, create a photo mat for the right pocket. Trim red cardstock to 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches. Trim green word paper from the 'Twas the Night Before Christmas 6x6 pad to 4 3/8 x 4 3/8 inches. ink edges and attach to red cardstock. Add to pocket.

That's all from me! Now, hop over to Ginny's Blog next!
