Heartfelt Creations Wednesday - Tattered Blossoms Altered Box

Here we are! Another Heartfelt Creations Wednesday! I cannot tell you how much fun I have been having with this team! I love making flowers! This week I have a pretty blue and yellow gift box to share with you. It is complete with a matching lid, covered with "sugared" flowers!

I have created boxes for you in the past, using the We R Memory Keepers Gift Box Punch Board, so this is not a new technique. This box is a bit different in size. I normally make a 4" x 4" x 4" box, but this one is 4" x 4" x 2 1/2", just to keep you on your toes! This is a nice size to fit a big cookie, or a necklace, or a few short candles, and such. I create lids for my boxes, only because I like to decorate the stuffing out of them! That is easier to do if you have a lid that lifts off the box!

I created a mound of sugared flowers for the lid. The full story on this project is that I made a few of these blue flowers for my project last week, and then I never used them! For this week, I wanted to use a paper collection that I had not cut into before, but I wanted to match the blue flowers. We would not want to wast flowers, would we?! So, come on, let's make a box!

Create a 4" x 4" x 2 1/2" box following the directions on the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch board, using a 10" x 10" piece of flag blue cardstock. (If you do not have access to a punch board, any box of comparable size will be acceptable.)

Trim yellow paper from the Heartfelt Creations Majestic Morning Paper Collection to fit the bottom and four sides of the box. Trim the paper 3 7/8" x 3 7/8" for the bottom and 2 3/8" x 3 7/8" for each side. Attach the paper to the box with double-sided tape. Place a gift into the box, and close the flaps. Wrap a 16 1/2" length of ribbon around the box and secure at the front. Create a matching bow and glue to the front of the box, covering the ribbon ends.

To create a lid to fit a 4" x 4" box, trim flag blue cardstock to 6 1/8" x 6 1/8". Using a score board and stylus, score 1 inch from each of the four edges. Trim to the sore line on each left-hand corner to create tabs, and use a strong adhesive to glue the tabs to form the lid.

Trim yellow paper from the Majestic Morning Paper Collection to fit the top and four sides of the lid. Trim the paper to 4" x 4" for the top and 7/8" x 4" for each side. Attach the paper to the lid with double-sided tape.

Glue a white, resin frame to the lid, approximately 1/2" from the left side and the bottom. Glue a fleur de lis embellishment to the center of the frame.

To create the flowers, stamp the Tattered Blossoms images several times with black dye ink onto blue and cream Countryside Evening paper

Use the Tattered Blossoms Dies to cut out the flowers. Color the flowers with blue inks as desired. Allow the ink to dry, and then mist the flowers with water, and shape. Glue flowers together to form one large blossom, one medium blossom, three small blossoms, and 1 tiny blossom. Create six buds from left-over flowers. Glue the buds to the flower centers.

Lightly brush the flowers with glue, and immediately dust flowers with extra fine glitter. Allow the glue to dry, and then brush off the loose glitter. Arrange flowers on box lid as shown.

Stamp the Open Leaf images onto green cardstock with black ink. Cut the leaves with the Classic Leaf Dies. Mist with water, and shape. Snip the leaves apart and add to the flowers as shown. Add two crystal sprays and a crystal trinket pin to the left flower cluster.

Place the lid onto your box. And give it away!

Thanks for joining me today. Hop on over to the Heartfelt Creations Blog to see what the rest of the team is up to!
