Canvas Corp Brands - Beach Themed Invitations

Welcome! Canvas Corp Brands issued a new challenge to the Crew - this time we were asked to make invitations! I decided to create a beach-themed invitation to a 30th wedding anniversary party! My husband and I will celebrate 30 years in 2017 and it's never too early to think about a party! {grin}

This invitation set includes a 5" x 7" invitation card, a 4" x 6" RSVP post card, and a matching envelope.

I collected all of the beach-themed items from my stash. I knew I wanted to use turquoise for the base color, and then add black, kraft, and ivory colors. For a full supply list, see the end of the post.

Trim the Sand and Sea Art paper to create six panels. The invitation front panels will contain one of the six unique images.

To create the invitation, trim turquoise cardstock to 7" x 10" and score at 5" to create a 5" x 7" left-fold card. Trim the turquoise print paper from the 7 Gypsies Maritime paper pad to 4 7/8" x 6 7/8" and attach it to the card front. Mat one of the Sand and Sea Art images with turquoise cardstock and attach the image to the front of the card with foam adhesive.

Stamp the "You're Invited" sentiment onto the Scallop Chalkstock tag with white ink. Emboss with white embossing powder. Trim out the sentiment with a tag punch. Sponge the edges with white ink and attach to the upper right corner of the image with foam adhesive. Tie a slip knot into a piece of Turquoise Hemp Rope and glue to the tag. Attach a black mini clothespin to the tag.

To decorate the inside of the invitation, trim anchor paper to 4 7/8" x 6 7/8" and attach to the left panel. Trim kraft cardstock to 4 7/8" x 6 7/8" and attach to the right panel. Print invitation information onto white cardstock with black ink and attach to the right panel. Trim the decorative border from the Beach Sampler paper and attach to the bottom of the panel. (This paper is retired, however, the Beach Sampler on Ivory paper is available.

Create an RSVP post card by trimming out one post card from Black and Kraft Post Card paper (4" x 6"). Write in the return address with a black pen. Create an area on the left side of the post card for guests to indicate attendance. Add a postage stamp for guests' convenience.

Decorate the reverse side of the post card by trimming a 4" x 6" piece of Black and Kraft Compass (retired) and attaching it to the post card. (Since this paper is retired, you may wish to use another paper from the Sand and Sea or Sails and Shells Collections.)

Stamp the "Happily ever after" sentiment in the top left corner of the post card with white ink. Emboss with white embossing powder. Tuck the RSVP card into the invitation.

Decorate an A7 (5 1/5" x 7 1/4") kraft envelope with a strip of the Maritime paper and an image punched from the Beach Sampler on Ivory paper. Place a strip and punched image on both sides of the envelope, at the bottom edge. Tuck the invitation and post card into the envelope. (If using the clothespin, you may need to add a bit of padding to prevent the envelope from tearing during delivery.)

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Making cards in bulk is never easy, but I hope that this inspires you to give it a try for your next party!

  4. Hey, this beach-themed invitation is very pretty. I consider a beach wedding as the perfect one. I also celebrated my 12th wedding anniversary at a beach vow renewal location. It was such a gorgeous day!
