Heartfelt Creations - File Folder Filio

Welcome to another Heartfelt Creations Wednesday! I had so much fun creating the Apple Folio a few weeks ago that I decided to give another type of folio a try! This type of folio has been around for a long time, but it was "re-invented" by many crafters as a way to expand the use of envelope punch boards. Here is my take on a file folder folio!

The folio is 6" x 6" when closed I used the beautiful papers from the October Release Italiana Riviera Collection. To keep the folio closed, I used small, strong magnets on the inside.

When the folio is opened, the top page is a pocket. The bottom section is a fold out photo mat that can hold up to three photos.

Create a 6" x 6" file folder folio by trimming black cardstock to 12" x 6" and scoring at 6" on the long side. Use the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board (or similar tool) to cut a notch on one 6" edge, at 3" from the left edge. Rotate the cardstock and repeat on the other 6" edge.

Use a paper trimmer to trim the excess cardstock to create two tabs. Attach a set of magnetic discs to the top and bottom panels, approximately 1/4" from the top and 3" from the left edge, to act as closures for the folio. Use a corner rounder to round the corners. Fold the cardstock on the score line to create a bottom-fold, tabbed folio base.

Decorate the front of the folio by trimming striped paper from the Italiana Riviera Paper Collection to 5 7/8" x 5 7/8". Use the Use the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board to create a tab in the upper left corner of the paper. Use a corner rounder to round the upper left and right corners. Sponge edges with violet pigment ink and attach the striped panel to the front of the folio.

Trim the leaf border from the Italiana Riviera Paper Collection and cut to 5 7/8". Sponge the edges with violet pigment ink and attach to the folio front, approximately 3 3/4" from the bottom edge. Use a circle die to trim the grape image from the Italiana Riviera Paper Collection. Mat image with a scalloped circle cut from black cardstock with a die cut template. Use foam adhesive to attach image to the folio front, 5/8" from the left edge, and 1" from the bottom edge.

Use the Luggage and Tags die to trim the sentiment ticket from the Italiana Riviera Paper Collection. Sponge the edges of the ticket with ink and attach to the right side of the circular image with foam adhesive.

Use the intricate vine border die from the Italiana Grape Clusters Die Set to trim vines from dark green Italiana Riviera paper. Attach the vine border to the tab. Create a bow from purple plaid ribbon and attach to the tab as shown.

In the same manner as described above, trim dark purple paper to decorate the back of the folio. Cut a strip of the striped paper and add it to the bottom edge of the folder.

Open the folio and decorate the inside panels. Trim two pieces of diamond print paper from the Italiana Riviera Paper Collection to 5 7/8" x 5 7/8". Use the Use the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board to create tabs as explained previously. Sponge the paper edges with violet pigment ink and attach the panels to the top and bottom of the folio.

Create a pocket for the top section of the folio by using the vine border dies from the Italiana Grape Clusters Die Set. View THIS video to learn how to use the border dies. Cut the vine border from black cardstock and the intricate vine border from dark purple Italiana Riviera paper. Attach a strip of striped paper to the bottom of the pocket. Decorate the pocket with a ticket sentiment. Place journaling spots cut from the Italiana Riviera paper into the pocket. (Make sure to sponge all your papers with violet ink.

Create a fold-out photo mat for the bottom section of the folio by cutting black cardstock to 5" x 9" and scoring at 5" on the long side. Attach the 5" x 5" section of the photo mat to the bottom section of the folio, 3/4" from the left edge.

Trim cream Italiana Riviera paper to 4 7/8" x 4 7/8" and attach to the 5" x 5" section. Use several prints, spliced together with a piece of the leaf border to cover the 5" x 4" section. Close the flap on the fold.

Fold on the score line. Trim grapevine paper to 4 7/8" x 3 7/8" and attach to the front of the flap.

Well, folks, my time with Heartfelt Creations is almost at an end. I have just one more post before my term ends! 5. this is such a beautiful folio, The tutorials are a bit crazy for me to do, but that is my error, I have a illness and cant learn without a one on one coach, or someone who can understand what is written....I cant wait for my next group crafting so that our ladies group can learn this together and make it as one of our christmas gifts that we have made a list for. I used to teach crafts and to the blind until I developed a brain tumor. I keep in touch with Emma lou as we have became good friends over the past year. They have a very special team, and you are all so talented. I cant wait to send you a picture of our class and our completed folios. Thank you so much for great details for our teacher, and may god bless you at whatever you do. Shelley
