Heartfelt Creations December Alumni Blog Hop

Welcome to the December Heartfelt Creations Alumni Blog Hop! Each month, on the last Tuesday of the month, the Heartfelt Creations Alumni Team participates in a Blog Hop! Be sure to visit each blog on the hop, and leave a comment, because one fortunate Blogger will be chosen to receive a $25 gift card to Heartfelt Creations! The winner will be announced on Saturday, January 2nd, at noon. The December Hop starts 8am EST on Tuesday, December 29th and closes Friday, January 1st at midnight.

The team is dedicating this Hop to the memory of our dear teammate, Penny ODell. Penny passed away earlier this month. She was a sweet lady and amazing artist and she will be missed by many. My condolences go out to her family.

You should be coming to my blog from my dear friend Kathy Clement's BlogFor a list of the Alumni Blogs, see the end of the post.

I created some masculine cards to share with you for my post.

I never have enough "manly" cards to mail, and I never have enough flat, easy-to-mail cards in my stash. Sometimes, you just don't want to fuss with a padded mailer or a box! You just want to put the card in an envelope, slap on a stamp, and mail it! I created a simple sketch, pulled out my papers, and...made some flat cards!

For this set of four cards, I used the Everyday Heroes Paper Collection and the All Occasion Sentiments Cling Stamp Set. Each card is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2", which is standard note card size. I trimmed out my scraps into 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" panels and coordinating strips at 4 1/8" x 1 7/8". It was easy to go through all my scraps and trim out pieces without having to think too much about what matched, since all the Heartfelt Creations papers within a collection coordinate!

I cut card bases out of black cardstock, and then I used an assembly line method to crank out cards. This is a good way to build my stash, to use scraps, and to make cards for donation. Cards that I give as donations always have to be standard size and flat. Plus it's easy to create a bunch in one style! Once you get going...you can binge-watch Netflix and create a respectable stack of cards!

I placed the main panel onto the card front. I then matted each 4 1/8" x 1 7/8" paper strip with black cardstock cut to 4 1/4" x 2". I wrapped each strip with twine, secured at the back. I then added a metal embellishment to each upper right corner of the strip  before attaching it to the card front. For this card, I used two tiny brads and one mini brad. I always add twine or string and metal to masculine cards. I don't like to add bows or flowers...too fussy for the men in my life.

I cut out stacking circles from black and ivory cardstock for the sentiment. I stamped the sentiment with black ink and attached it with foam tape. For this card, I used three tiny brads for the metal accent. The Everyday Heroes paper collection is one of my favorites from Heartfelt Creations. I love the colors, the images, and the grungy-ness of it!

For two of the cards, I used a tiny paper clip as the metal accent. All very masculine! And flat! And let's just be clear...I have boat loads of tiny brads and clips! Time to use them!

Each card has a coordinating paper strip attached to an ivory panel on the inside. Again, it was easy to cut 4 1/8" x 1" or 1 1/2" strips from paper scraps! I did not stamp anything on the inside as I wanted to make sure I could customize each card. I can also add a gift card if I wish.

I hope you enjoyed my card set and that you are inspired to use up your scraps!

  20. I agree with your -just put it in the envelope issue. We get so carried away with layers, flowers, textures and bling...... masculine and flat! So hard to get that combination. Thank you for sharing and for the great use of scraps.
