Vintage Junk Mini Album for Canvas Corp Brands

Welcome to the Blog! I have a project using Canvas Corp Brands products for you today! I also have two videos to go with this one.

I have created a Vintage Junk Mini Album, suitable for use for travel photos or for heritage photos.

This is a canvas covered mini which measures 6 1/2" x 7 1/2" with a 1 3/4" flexible spine. The printed canvas makes a wonderful book cover. The compass print canvas is a retired product, but you can find similar printed canvas HERE, or you can find the compass print cardstock HERE.

I added some splatters of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist to the canvas before I used it to create the mini album covers.

I decorated the cover with some bits and pieces, including 7 Gypsies Industrial Gears.
The inside pages of the book are constructed of black cardstock and covered with 7 Gypsies papers. I used American Vintage, Ordre du Jour, Gypsy Moments, Maritime, and Wanderlust.

To see all of the inside pages of this mini album, watch the video above.

To create the covers of this album, first cut two pieces of canvas to 8 1/2" x 9 1/2".
Spray canvas with glimmer mist and allow to dry.
Cut two pieces of heavy weight chipboard to 6 1/2" x 7 1/2". Use multi medium to attach the printed canvas to one side of a chipboard cover. Trim the corners as shown. Repeat with the plain canvas and the other chipboard cover.

Wrap the canvas around the edges of the chipboard covers. Use strong, double-sided tape to adhere the canvas edges to the chipboard.

Create a tab-hinge spine by cutting black cardstock to 6" x 11 3/4". Score at 2", 2 1/4", 2 3/4", 3 1/4", 3 1/2" 4", 4 1/2", 4 3/4", 5 1/4", 5 3/4", 6", 6 1/2", 7", 7 1/4", 7 3/4", 8 1/4", 8 1/2", 9", 9 1/2", and 9 3/4". Place double-sided tape on the second, fourth, sixth, eighth, tenth,and twelfth 1/2" sections.
Fold on the score lines and adhere the 1/2" sections together to form six tab hinges. Place double-sided tape on both sides of each hinge as shown.
Trim a piece of black Kraft-tex (or black cardstock backed with tyvek) to 6 3/8"" x 4 1/2". Trim a piece of printed canvas to 7 3/8" x 2 1/2" and glue to the Kraft-tex. Wrap the canvas over at the top and the bottom edges and secure. This is the spine of the album.
I used a white pen to mark the 1/4" gutters on both sides of the tab hinge so you can see how to position the hinge onto the back of the spine. Make sure the hinge section is centered on the spine piece and secure with strong adhesive.
Flip the spine over so that the tab hinge is facing down. Attach strong adhesive from the 1/4" gutters to the edge of the spine. The visible canvas spine is approximately 1 3/4".

Trim two pieces of black cardstock to 6 3/8" x 7 3/8" and attach to the inside of both canvas covers.
Remove the adhesive from the spine section and attach to the covers, making sure that the 1/4" gutter of the spine lines up with the edges of the covers. Make sure your tab hing is facing up.
Trim decorative paper to 6 14" s 7 1/4" to cover the inside covers.

The spine and covers will look like this.

Create 6 fold-out pages and attach each page to one of the 6 tab hinges.

To see how to create this type of the page, see the video above.

  5. Love this album and will have to make one of my own. But think I will use another color for the glimmer mist splatters. The red looks like blood to me.. :-(
