Sending a Power Poppy Smile!

Happy Friday, Colorists and Card Makers! The Power Poppy Team is here with another Friday Fun Day! 

I have to confess to struggling to get back into any sort of crafting, which also means no blogging! I have good days and pain days, and now with our crazy weather, migraine days! The isolation (along with the pain issues) is really starting to make me have some depression. I am praying that the marine layer (called June Gloom) will lift soon because it really causes some terrible migraines! 

I am working hard to keep my "head in the game" and just hang in there! Your prayers are so coveted!  I had a bit of a bright spot last week as my daughter came to visit for the week and my older son came for a long weekend! It was so amazing to have all three kids home at once. I had not seen the older two since Christmas! God is so good! I meditate on all the ways He lifts me up when I am in the valley! I needed to see my kids! It was an overflowing blessing! 

Let's get happy and take a peek at my Power Poppy Fun Friday project!

I created a 6 1/2" x 4 3/4" card, and I do apologize that the card is so simple! It is not my "go to" style for sure! But, I just am not able to drag out all the bells and whistles right now, so...I am mostly grabbing some cardstock, a 6x6 paper pad, and some enamel dots and...ta da! 

I printed the digital image from the Wildflower Mini Digital Stamp Set onto Strathmore Colored Pencil paper (100#/163gsm). The paper goes through my printer easily and the ink sets well for colored pencils. The sentiment is from the Under Glass Clear Set. I stamped the sentiment onto a scrap of the colored pencil paper with dye ink. Easy peasy.

I will also admit to this project being a bit of an experiment! I have been playing with all my various colored pencils brands, trying them on various papers and cardstock. Some pencils work better on certain papers...duh right?! 

I ended up coloring this image with Arteza pencils. They work very similarly to Prismacolors, but are bit bit less creamy. They hold a sharp point longer then the Prismas, which is great when you are coloring really small spaces! I do find the Arteza pencils lay down really bold colors, too.

The pencils are wax-based, so they sometimes shine when trying to photograph the project, as you can see from the blueberries above. 

Speaking of shine, I used a white gel pen to draw some lines on the mason jar, to make it look more like glass.
