Thank you, Spellbinders Paper Arts, for sponsoring this contest!

I’m thrilled to share two projects using S5-074 Retro Mod Clocks with you. These fabulous new die templates are from the new Samantha Walker Designer Collection!

It's always a thrill to be able to use NEW die templates in multiple ways! I love to look at my die cut shapes and see what they can become. I created this gift card holder using S5-074 Retro Mod Clocks to decorate the band that closes the holder. I also used S4-346 Labels Twenty-two to cut/emboss the opening for the gift card.

To create the gift card holder, start with a piece of black cardstock, cut to 4 ½ x 11". Then score at 3", 5 ½", and 8".

Fold on the 5 ½" score line. Attach S4-346 Labels Twenty-two, die template #5 (#1 is the smallest die template) at the fold as shown.

Using the Spellbinders Paper Arts Grand Calibur™ machine, cut and emboss the cardstock, and set aside. Cut a piece of designer paper to 4 3/8 x 4 7/8" and score at 2 ½".

Fold on the score line. Attach S4-346 Labels Twenty-two #5 at the fold as shown.

Cut/emboss the paper, then snip the shape cut from the star paper in half at the fold and attach to the black cardstock, lining up the opening.

Fold the black cardstock on the remaining score lines. Glue three edges of the center panel, making sure to leave an opening for the gift card.

You are now ready to decorate your covers. Cut paper as shown below:

1 strip black - 1 x 8" (this is for the band)
1 strip pattern #1 - 7/8 x 7 7/8" (this is for the band)
1 piece pattern #2 - 2 5/8 x 3 7/8"
4 pieces pattern #3 - 2 7/8 x 4 1/8"

Attach the orange paper to the inside and outside covers of the gift card holder. Attach the blue panel to the orange paper on the front of the gift card holder.

To make the closure band, glue the star paper to the black cardstock and wrap the band around the closed gift card holder. Overlap and attach the band in the back, making sure it can slip off the holder.

Next, use S5-074 Retro Mod Clocks to cut/emboss the following shapes:

1 Pendulum Clock from black cardstock
1 Small Pendulum Piece from black cardstock
1 Medium Pendulum Piece from black cardstock
1 circle (using S4-114 Standard Circles Large die template #2) from white cardstock

Ink through the openings (like a stencil) BEFORE removing the paper from the die templates.

Cut two stars (using the Presto Punch™ machine and the star punch template from the Starter Pack), 1 from black cardstock and 1 from red cardstock.

Glue the pendulum clock onto the band as shown. Stamp a sentiment onto the white circle and attach the sentiment circle over the area where the clock face should go. Then attach the pendulum pieces to the sentiment so that they look like ribbon tails. Place the red star on top of the "ribbons."

If desired, attach a bingo number to the clock pendulum. Use the age of the birthday celebrant to personalize the project!

Stamp a birthday message on the inside of the gift card and embellish with the other star. Add a gift card, and you are finished!

I hope you enjoyed seeing what you can do with S5-074 Retro Mod Clocks!

  57. Gloria - I love it when people show me new ways to use my Spellbinders dies. What a great idea with the gift card holder -- not only using the timepiece as a part of the band, but also using the label die to cut the card holder -- very inspired. Love the card too with the "time to celebrate" sentiment. It's always time to celebrate when new Spellbinders dies are introduced!
