Heartfelt Creations Wednesday - Altered Mini Crate

Welcome to another Heartfelt Creations Wednesday! I have created a little altered project for your viewing pleasure. I found these little crates on sale for under $2 at my local Michael's store. Naturally, I purchased a few of them, because they were just so cute!

I decided to try my hand at making the Cascading Fuchsia dimensional flowers for the decoration on the crate. I am not sure I did as good of a job as some of the other designers, but I tried my best and they did turn out cute, and VERY dimensional! (If not exactly the correct color! I was drawn to pastels for some reason, again!)

Here is how to alter a small (4 5/8" x 3 1/8" x 4", including handle) wood crate: Use summer linen acrylic paint to paint a light coat of paint over the entire crate. Allow some of the original wood color and grain to show through the paint.

Use pale green paper from the Cascading Fuchsia Paper Collection to cover the front and back slats, sides, and bottom of the crate. Measure your crate and trim the paper to the appropriate size, then glue the paper in place. (I covered the entire bottom of the crate because I did not want my "goodies" to fall through the slats.)

Tie a triple bow from pale pink satin ribbon and attach it to the top of the crate handle.

Stamp all of the leaf images from the Open Leaf Cling Stamp Set onto green Cascading Fuchsia paper with black ink. Use the Classic Leaf Die to cut out the leaves. Shape the leaves and glue several of the leaf clusters to the front of the crate as shown. Stamp the two smallest flower images from the Cascading Fuchsia Cling Stamp Set three times onto white cardstock with black ink. Color the flowers with distress inks. Cut out the flowers with the Cascading Fuchsia DieShape the flowers according to the video found HERE. Make five flowers and glue them to the front of the crate as if hanging from the leaves. Trim out single leaves from the reaming stamped leaf images and attach them to the flowers.

Use the small crate to hold your small journaling spots and tags, or fill it with candy or other treats.
