Couture Creations Design Team Application Round 2

Hello folks! I am so happy to report that I have made it to Round 2 of the Couture Creations Design Team application process!

The designers who made it to Round 2 were asked to make a new project using at least one embossing folder and one die cut template, and if possible, Core'dinations Cardstock. Also, if possible, we are to use Couture Creations products. Sadly, I don't have any Couture Creations items in my stash. (The items I used for CHA were prototypes and I was not allowed to keep them! The collection won't be released until April.) Therefore, I ended up using an embossing folder and several die cut templates from my stash to create my project.

We were also asked to create a tutorial as part of our Round 2 post. Without further ado, here is my post! (A full supply list is at the end of the post.)

Nothing says spring like pastel eggs and paisley prints! To create this card:

1. Make a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches top fold card from kraft cardstock. Set aside.

2. Cut white cardstock to 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 inches. Set aside.

3. Cut pink Core'dinations cardstock to the size of an A2 embossing folder (approximately 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches). Emboss the cardstock with an embossing folder and your die cutting system.

4. Lightly sand the cardstock to reveal the lighter core. Trim embossed panel to 5 1/4 x 4 inches and attach to the white cardstock panel. Set aside.

5. Stamp an image onto white cardstock and color with alcohol markers. The image should be approximately 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 inches. Using a nested circle die template, trim out the image. Trim a second circle from white cardstock using a larger nesting circle.

6. Using doily or decorative circle die templates, trim one doily from pink Core'dinations cardstock. Sand to reveal the white core. Trim a second decorative circle from kraft cardstock. Using dimensional adhesive, stack the circles as shown. Set aside.

7. Place the embossed cardstock panel (matted with white cardstock) on your work surface. Using a decorative border die template, cut a border from white cardstock.

8. Trim the border to fit the panel and glue in place.

9. Trim striped paper to 1 1/8 x 3  7/8 inches. Cut a mat from white cardstock, 1 1/4 x 4 inches. Attach to the pink embossed panel as shown, making sure to overlap the die cut border.

10. Wrap white seam binding around the striped panel and tie a bow on the right edge. Then attach the embossed panel to the kraft card front.

11. Trim aqua paper to 3 7/8 x 1 7/8 inches. Mat with white cardstock cut to 4 x 2 inches. Attach the panel to the left edge of the card as shown, using dimensional adhesive. Make sure to tuck the bottom edge under the seam binding.

12. Using dimensional tape, attach the image and circle stack to the center of the card front as shown.

13. Glue a pink paper rose to the center of the bow.

14. Decorate the inside of the card by trimming white cardstock to 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 inches and attaching it to the inside of the card.

15. Trim striped paper to 5/8 x 4 1/8 inches. Glue to the top of the white panel.

16. Stamp a sentiment onto white cardstock with black dye ink and trim out with a nesting circle die template. Mat sentiment with a decorative circle, slightly larger, cut from kraft cardstock. Attach sentiment to the top center of the panel as shown.

I hope you find some time to play with embossing folders and die cuts today! Thanks for looking!
