Good morning, Blogger Peeps! I am guest designing for Really Reasonable Ribbon again! It is time for the May Blog Hop, which starts at the RRR Blog! I know that it probably seems like I am the guest who won't go home! I am always quick to say YES! when Bonnie asks me to guest for the monthly hop! I love seeing the new ribbon clubs, and let's fact it, I love to share my projects using the fabulous ribbon! When Bonnie told me what colors were in the May Assortment, I naturally said, "Gimme gimme gimme!"

Here is a peeky at the RRR May Ribbon Club Assortment. 

I LOVE patriotic-themed items! I especially love patriotic themed ribbon! And by patriotic, I mean in the colors of the good ol' US of A! You cannot go wrong with red, white, and blue! 

I created this card using an amazing image that I found online (somewhere). I found a whole bunch of these seed catalog images! This one is from 1898 or 1899. It's marvelous! I love the colors and the gent with the flag. I printed it out at approximately 3 7/8" x 5 1/8". It is a bit large, but I did not want to waste the cardstock or the ink, so I decided to use the image in the large size. Since the image is so large, I needed a large card! This bad boy is 5 1/4" x 7 1/4". Y'all know my preference for top-fold cards, and you also know that paper does not come in 14" lengths, so let's get creative! To make a top-fold card in this size, I cut two panels at 5 1/4" x 7 1/4" and scored one at 1/2" from the top to make a tab. I glued the front panel to the tab on the back panel and ta-da, now I have a 7 1/4" tall card!

Please do not send me hate mail about this odd-sized card! {grin} It may fit into an envelope made for 5" x 7" cards, or you my need to look for another size. Since I tend to make lumpy cards, I try to find padded or cardboard mailers in a variety of sizes for mailing. If I cannot find an envelope in the correct size, I cut down a larger envelope, use a box, or make my own envelope. My opinion is, if a person is special enough to warrant a handmade card, they are also special enough that I can do some extra work to provide an envelope! 

I used the fabulous RRR Patriotic Plaid Ribbon from the May Ribbon Club for my bow. This ribbon is so pretty! I tied a triple bow and then added a star pin to the top.

I placed the Poppy Red Diamond Satin, topped with the Tiny Poppy Red Stars on White Grosgrain ribbon (that is a mouthful) along the left side of the card . I used the Tiny Electric Blue Stars on White Grosgrain on the center panel. I rubbed the star ribbons with Ranger Distress Antique Linen ink to "tone down" the white just a bit. 

I used a bit more of the plaid on the inside of the card.

I added some dimensional flowers and a vintage postage image to the card front. Some of the flowers on the image were pink, so I covered them up! I hope you enjoyed this patriotic card!
