Heartfelt Creations Wednesday - Peace on Earth

Welcome to another Heartfelt Creations Wednesday! I am working with the Sparkling Poinsettia Collection again today. I wanted to try a new coloring technique (new for me, that is), and I felt that the Sparkling Poinsettia Candle Cling Stamp was the perfect choice.

I have been wanting to try coloring "white" images, using Copics. I have studied several artists to see how they managed this, and came up with my own color choices to try out this technique. I think it turned out rather well, making an elegant Christmas card without a lot of added bulk.

To create this card, first trim two pieces of black cardstock to 5 3/4" x 6 1/4". Score one piece of black cardstock at 1/2" from the top edge. Attach the second piece of cardstock to the 1/2" tab to create a top-fold card. Cut white decorative paper from the Sparkling Poinsettia Paper Collection to 5 5/8" x 6 1/8" and attach to the card front. Trim green holly paper from the Sparkling Poinsettia Paper Collection to 2 1/2 x 5 5/8" and mat with black cardstock cut to 2 5/8" x 5 3/4". Wrap ivory ribbon around the left edge of the green panel. Attach the panel to the left side of the card front, 5/8" from the left edge. Cut a 2" circle from text print Sparkling Poinsettia paper and mat with a black cardstock circle cut slightly larger. Attach the circle to the left side of the card, 1" from the top edge and 1/4" from the left.

Stamp the Sparkling Poinsettia Candle onto white cardstock with black ink. Color the image with Copic markers. I used YG0000, YG21, BV20, E0000, V0000, V91, and R0000 to create white for the flowers and the candle. The flower centers and the flame are YR04, YR07, YR18, YR21, YR24, YR32, YR68, and R29. The leaves are YG91, YG95. I used T1 for shadows and the colorless blender for highlights.

Add glitter to the candle flame using a Wink of Stella pen. Add clear dimensional adhesive (Glossy Accents) to the dripping candle wax and the flower centers.

Sponge the background with blue chalk ink. Trim the image to approximately 4" x 4 3/8" and mat with black cardstock cut to 4 1/8" x 4 1/2". Attach the image to the card front with foam adhesive 1 3/8" from the left edge and 3/4" from the top. Use the oval label die from the Luggage and Tags Die Set to trim the sentiment from Sparkling Poinsettia paper. Attach the sentiment to the top left side of the image with foam adhesive. Glue an ivory bow to the sentiment tag.

Decorate the inside of the card with white decorative paper from the Sparkling Poinsettia Paper Collection, cut to 5 5/8" x 5 5/8".  Stamp the sentiment from the Sparkling Poinsettia Swirl Cling Stamp Set onto the top of the inside panel with black ink.
