Welcome to the Really Reasonable Ribbon June Blog Hop! We have a COLOR THEME HOP this month...each of the design team ladies is going to be creating a project using BRIGHT, SUMMER COLORS!
You should be coming to my blog from Ginny's Blog. After visiting me hop on to Kathy's Blog next! (The full blog list is at the end of the post.)
At the end of the hop, comment on the RRR Blog post, answering the question listed, for a chance to win a $10 Gift Card to the RRR Shop, plus one digital stamp set of your choice from Bonnie Garby Designs. The Design Team appreciates your comments, too!
Let's first acknowledge that a bright, summery color palette is not one of my "go-tos" before we comment on my new background. {smile} I purchased some new background boards....and this set is just not working for me! Plus it was a very gloomy day here, making photography difficult. Fail times two! But, I wanted to try the new boards, and I did not have the time to retake and re-edit all the photos. Anyway, you tell me...thumbs up or down on this background set?
I have been pulling out all the things lately. I have so much, so many products and tools and...things. I have been having fun trying out some things that have been collecting dust (metaphorically, not literally) in my hoard.
I started out creating an A2 card from black cardstock. I know, a "normal" sized card! Shocker! Then....I added 20 pounds of flowers. {giggle}
I used a corner die that I purchased years ago, because I NEEDED it, and then I never used it. The set comes with four different mixed media style dies. I cut a piece of off-white cardstock just smaller than my card front, then cut the corner design with the die.
I decided to try a technique that I learned last year in a class I took at Ready Set Create. Using Distress Oxide inks and brushes, I created a "sunset" gradient of colors on the cardstock panel. This goes so much faster with the oxide inks than with regular distress inks! I only have a few colors of the oxides, and funny enough...I have some vivid, summery colors!
I glued a scrap of printed paper behind the cut out openings of the panel. Very colorful! I wrapped a piece of 5/8" Watermelon Taffeta ribbon around the panel and secured it before adding the panel to the card front.
I used more of the taffeta ribbon to make a bow, which I hot glued to the card.
The sentiment is die cut from black cardstock and glued in place. I love having a glue bottle with a precision tip for this type of thing!
The last steps were to line the inside of the card with off-white cardstock, then to add the enamel dots. So funny story...when I was adding the enamel dots, one of the tiny yellow dots flew somewhere. I could not find it! I checked my clothes, the floor...nothing. Well, as I was typing this post...I realized that the little dude was stuck to one of the flowers...and....well...I was NOT retaking the photos, nor re-editing to "erase" it! So, there is a rogue enamel dot, which I have since picked off and returned to his people. {grin}
Thanks for joining me today! Have fun hopping!
