I pretty much bleed red, white, and blue. My dad, all four brothers, several uncles, cousins, and nephews, even my husband's aunt, served our country, both during war and peacetime. One of my distant great uncles was an officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War! To say I am a patriot is an understatement. I love my country!
I recently purchased some stamps from Stamper's Best as part of their Operation Write Home collection. I stamped the flag in gray ink, and then stamped the Band of Brothers over it in black. I live next to a Marine base and my church is a huge support to the troops and their families. This card reminds us that where men (and women) are willing to die for freedom, there is hope.
I found this vintage barn star at a craft fair somewhere. I purchased several sizes. I wish I had purchased more! One of my sisters-in-law collects stars and every time see one of these barn stars, I think of her!
I used the wide red satin horizontal stripe ribbon to wrap around the base of the card, then clipped some of the red, white, and blue diamond satin ribbons to make a "medal" with the star.
I used more of the diamond satin ribbon to create strips on the inside of the card.
The stars are die cuts made using a Spellbinders die template.
