Summer Fun with Imaginarium Designs!

Well, it is August! Here in southern California it's a lovely time of 73 F degree days and cool nights. The sun is shining and the ocean breeze is blowing. Our hot weather is yet to come, arriving in September and October when the desert winds blow!

I will be sharing NEW projects from Imaginarium Designs on the 2nd of each month, starting this month. I have two summer-time cards to share today.

I am flying my vintage flag again today. I love vintage-themed stamps and papers. I can't get enough! To create the background for my butterfly I stamped the vintage stamp onto cardstock with black ink, then distressed the paper with inks.

I really wanted to play with lavender, which does not happen often. It is not one of my "go to" colors. To create this pretty, lavender butterfly (IDS0001), I painted the chipboard with one coat of gesso. After the gesso was dry, I rubbed over the paint with lavender and warm violet fluid chalk ink. I used a soft cloth to buff off excess ink and then stamped on top of the butterfly with black ink and a script stamp. Super cool, right?!

I found some lavender flowers in my stash, and some white and lavender twine. It DOES pay to have lots of goodies in your studio! I painted the Graphic 45 button staple with gesso and then rubbed a bit of violet ink over it.

Lots of yummy dimension! I used lots of dimension on this next card, too! But this time, I went with red, my favorite color!

I love bicycles, especially vintage bicycles (IDT0018). (I don't RIDE them, I just like to look at them!) To create this very "old" bike, I painted the chipboard with a coat of gesso and allowed it to dry. Then, I applied a thin layer of crackle medium and allowed that to dry. Next, I painted over the crackle medium with cranberry acrylic paint.

Once the bicycle was dry and the crackle finished "crackling," I added Glossy Accents to the bicycle seat, handlebars, and peddles. Notice, I have just a bit of crackle, and some areas did not crackle at all. That is due to the very thin coat I applied. With such an intricate shape, I wanted to just have a "mild" crackle.

I added some flowers and a cute ladybug ribbon to keep this project fresh, fun, and sweet.
