Heartfelt Creations Wednesday - 7 Swans a-Swimming

Here we are, back at Wednesday again! It's scary how fast that happens each week! I am sharing my newest Heartfelt Creations project today. The team is still showcasing the November collection, Romantique Garden. I decided to give the collection a bit of a tweak!

I wanted to see if I could pull off a Christmas card using this summer-themed collection! I had some left-over poinsettias that I made for another project, plus I found a few extra flowers that I had stamped and die cut, but had yet to color. I thought...I bet I can make this work! I colored the cream flowers with pink ink and created pink poinsettias, and just added them to the bleeding hearts from Romantique Garden. Totally says "Christmas in Southern California," right?!

Here are the instructions for this card:

Create a 5" x 5" card by trimming black cardstock to 10" x 5". Score at 5" to make a top-fold card. Add a layer of light green Romantique Garden paper, cut to 4 7/8" x 4 7/8. Cut music note Romantique Garden paper to 4 3/8" x 1 7/8" and mat with black cardstock cut to 4 1/2" x 2". Place music note panel on the right edge of the card front, leaving a 1/4" border of the green paper showing. Cut swirl Festive Christmas paper to 3 3/8" x 1 3/8" and mat with black cardstock cut to 3 1/2" x 1 1/2". Attach Festive Christmas paper panel approximately 1 1/8" from the right edge of the card, and 1/2" from the top of the card.

Cut dark green Romantique Garden paper to 1 7/8"" x 4 7/8". Mat with black cardstock cut to 2" x 5". Die cut the Decorative Lace Border shape from white cardstock. Carefully trim the scallop and lattice portion, rub with spun sugar ink, and glue to the top of the dark green panel. Attach pink twill ribbon to the top of the panel and secure at the back. Attach the panel to the card front, approximately 1/2" from the bottom of the card.

Use the Spellbinders Large Labels die template to cut a label from pale green text Romantique Garden paper. Rub edges with aged mahogany ink. Mat with a second label shape die cut from black cardstock. Using foam adhesive, attach the label shapes to the card front, approximately 1 1/2" from the bottom edge and 1" from the right edge.

Stamp the Romantique Swans images with watermark ink onto black text Romantique Garden paper. Heat emboss with white glitter embossing powder. Allow to cool. Use the Romantique Garden Die Set to cut out the swans. Using foam adhesive, add the swan images to the labels panel. Use the oval label die from the Luggage and Tags Die set to cut the "Merry Christmas" sentiment from Festive Christmas paper. Attach the tag to the left edge of the swan panel.

Cut two vines from dark green Romantique Garden paper with the Romantique Garden Die Set. Trim the vines into four pieces, and add to the top left and bottom right corners of the card. Stamp the petals image from the Heartthrob PreCut Set several times onto ivory paper. Use the coordinating petals die template from the Romantique Garden Die Set to cut out the petals. Color each bloom by sponging it with ink. Shape blooms and add to the die cut vines with foam squares, lining up a flower with each stem.

Stamp the Sun Kissed Fleur image several times onto ivory and maroon paper. Use the coordinating Sun Kissed Fleur die template to cut out the flowers. Color each small flower by sponging it with ink and paint. Shape blooms and add them to the corners of the card as shown. Add pearls and beads to the flower centers. Add the smallest bloom to the Merry Christmas Tag.

Computer generate the "7 swans a-swimming" sentiment and print onto white cardstock Cut out with the Spellbinders Fancy Tags die template. Sponge with pink and magenta ink. Attach to the upper right corner of the card, at an angle.

Line the inside of the card with pale green text Romantique Garden paper.
