Father's Day Card - CutCardStock

Hello and welcome! I am up on the CutCardStock Blog today, sharing a Football-themed Father's Day card. Make sure you check out the blog, because the whole team is sharing Father's Day and masculine-themed projects for the whole month of May!
Football is a big deal at our house - pre-season, post-season, NFL Draft, and the whole nine yards. My husband and daughter LOVE football and root (unfailingly) for the Minnesota Vikings. My daughter will be transferring from a local college (which does NOT have a football team) to San Jose State University in the fall. (Go Spartans!) I made this card for her dad, to celebrate her entry in to SJSU - and SJSU football! (I know, the Spartan colors are actually blue and gold...but my little man was wearing red, so, it is what it is.)

I created a vintage-inspired card, using some vintage football images from Graphic 45 Good Ol' Sport and CutCardStock Basis Cardstock. This is a layered and "grungy" card, perfect for every football dad!

To create the card, cut Basis Brown Cardstock to 11" x 4 1/4" and score at 5 1/2" on the long side to make a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" top-fold card.

Trim Basis Light Brown Cardstock to 5 1/2" x 4 1/4 and emboss with the Sizzix Gridlock Embossing Folder (or similar). Rub the raised areas of the embossed cardstock with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. Trim the panel to 5 3/8" x 4 1/8" and sponge the edges with ink. Attach the panel to the card front and wrap a length of printed twill around the top portion of the card.

Using banner die cut templates, cut two banners from Basis Black Cardstock. Cut one banner from decorative paper (Graphic 45 Good Ol' Sport) and attach it to the top of one of the black banners. Using a decorative star banner die cut template (Papertrey Ink), cut another banner from Basis Blue Cardstock. Attach the star banner to the second black banner.
Attach both banners to the card front as shown. Fussy cut a football player image from decorative paper and use foam adhesive squares to pop it off the bottom right corner of the card front. Tie a length of ruler twill to a decorative chipboard tag and attach the tag to the top left of the card.
Add some stickers and die cut shapes to finish the card.
Cut two pieces of Basis Natural Cardstock to 5 3/8" x 4 1/8", sponge the edges with Walnut Stain ink, and attach them to the inside panels of the card. Decorate the panels with more football images and stamps. Add a Father's Day message as shown.
Thanks for looking!

  1. This father’s day vintage card is very beautiful! Thanks a lot for sharing these photos here. Father’s day is coming and planning something special for my dad. He is a huge fan of vintage parties, so thinking to take host one at his favorite venue Houston. I hope he likes it.
