A New Year with CropStop

Happy New Year! I hope all of you had a safe and happy celebration last night. I confess, I did not make it all the way to midnight. I did try, and stayed up making the project that I am showing you today, but around 11:30pm, I just ran out of gas. I am just an old fuddy duddy!

But, after much fussing with my computer (I had one computer issue after another today!), here is my Friday CropStop embossing project.

Today I want to show you the Cuttlebug Butterfly Cut and Emboss die and embossing set. The set comes with one 3x3 die and four embossing folders. This is a set I'd been wanting for a long time, and Haylie Jo at CropStop surprised me with it in my last shipment!
I decided to make a spring themed project for today, using the butterflies. I am tired of Christmas projects and things with snowmen on them. We don't get snow here, at any rate. But soon, we will have the butterfly migration. Which is a sight to behold! So I made this fun gift bag - with butterflies galore!

This bag is made from one sheet of 12x12 paper. My friend Wanda, who is a SU rep, showed me how to make the bag. Wanda is a very talented lady, and is a wiz at making unique things with ribbon. Alas, she does not have a blog. Anyway, I created this graphic for you, to show you how to assemble the bag.

I created my bag from a sheet of American Crafts butterfly paper.

I stapled the top of the bag closed, and then added a topper cut from a 3 3/4" x 2 1/4" piece of coordinating paper. I created a scallop edge with a Fiskars scallop border punch.

Then, I cut 8 butterflies with the Cuttlebug die, and embossed some of them with the various folders. I stacked two butterflies together, to add dimension, then attached them to the bag.

I stamped the greeting onto a scrap of white paper, then cut it out with a labels Nestie die.

I added the buttons and floss to finish off the project.

Hope you like this spring-time project and my "tall bag" tutorial.
