More Altered Art

It's Friday! This week, while short by having Monday off for Labor Day, has still been a VERY LONG WEEK! I will be happy to have some time off from teaching the kids and from chores for the weekend. I've already informed my family that I will "be in my studio" all weekend! Plus, my copy of Tim Holtz's Compendium of Curiosities finally came yesterday so I need to sit and study that for a bit!

Before I show you my project for today...I want to let you in on a little something that I'll be doing on my blog. My younger brother, who was killed in July, had an awesome warped and wicked sense of humor. We both loved to laugh...at stuff most people do NOT find funny. However, we felt we were hilarious! So, in his honor, I'll be posting a "something to ponder" on my blog sidebar...over on the right side...of goofy sayings that I find funny, and would have been things I emailed him for his "collection." I hope you get a laugh out of them. If not, just move on and look at the projects instead! {grin}

Now, on to my project! This is another "orphan" from my Graphic45 design work. This is one of those cheap photo albums you can buy at the $1 store or Walmart. I simply altered it to make it look...well...better!

I used Graphic45 Botanicabella papers to jazz it up. And see that yummy lace? I found that at one of the local stores. I need to buy more! Why do I buy just one yard? I know I will use more than that!

Here you can see the dimension. I inked and crumpled the images to give everything age and depth.

I used Maya Road pins to add some extra sparkle and interest to the project. Oh, and that button is a vintage button...well I think it is. My friend Vicki sent it to me, and a lot of the buttons she sent looked old and vintage.

I keep a stack of these little photo albums in my stash so that if I need a quick gift, I can alter one and slip it into a gift bag with a gift card and a note. They make great gifts for new neighbors or for a baby shower, and so forth. Esp. if you have not had time to shop, or if you are like me and HATE to shop! Unless it's shopping for craft supplies........
