Paper Sundaes Challenge #53

It's Sunday again. I've been crazy busy making projects for the Graphic45 booth at CHA. I made some scrapbook pages for a change! I cannot wait to start my sneaky peeks! I have some other news that I can't tell you yet...some is good, some is bittersweet. I can let you in on all that in a few weeks.

The Paper Sundaes Challenge #53 is all about distressing - the good kind! Distress your paper with ink or tools or grunge it up somehow. Our wonderful sponsor this week is Simon Says Stamp. I used a Hero Arts stamp set called Sew Stylish for my card. This set was released Summer 2010, and I snagged it right away...and never inked it until now!

I decided not to color my image, but to just distress the paper with Ranger Distress inks (Old Paper, Vintage Photo). I'm not sure how I feel about the b/w image...but it reminds me of a newspaper ad or something.

I used Graphic45 Playtimes Past papers. I only have a few of these papers and have rarely used them. For whatever reason, every time I get a DT box from Graphic45, this paper line is never in there! But, I do have several of this sheet (Hopscotch), so dragged them out and gave them love. I distressed all the papers with ink and my edge tool. My favorite technique!

I used roses from Wild Orchid Crafts, some trim from my LSS, a Maya Road pin, plus a pin from the fabric store. I colored the small pin with Copic marker. It was a nasty blue color, so I colored it to match the paper better. The inside of the card is decorated with paper, but I did not use a greeting stamp. I like to have some blank cards so I can use them for any event I may need.

For those of you who joined in the Paper Sundaes Blog Hop last week, I will be drawing a RAK winner from my comments on that post. I'll announce the winner on Wednesday, so watch the blog for that!

I am sad to say that next Sunday will be my last post for Paper Sundaes. My term is over and I've declined Christine and Shana's kind offer to continue with them. I have loved every minute of my time with this fantastic team. The girls are all amazing and very creative. I have mixed feelings about stepping down, but know that I am not able to give them 100% so it's best for me to give up my spot to someone who can. I am so blessed to have been part of the team for the past three months!

Note and prayer request: Last Friday, January 21st, marked the 6 month anniversary of my younger brother's murder. I think I am still in shock and am praying for wisdom and understanding. I also pray that the trial for the accused murderer will take place soon so our family can start to feel some peace and healing. Thank you for your support these past 6 months. Many of you have prayed and lifted me up when I'm having a rough time. I'm not too open about my family life here on the blog, but sometimes I just need to let you in - to ask for your prayers and warm thoughts.

  1. What a beautiful card Gloria, I love the B/w image very much, all other colours would have disturbed the elegance!

  3. This card is really NEAT! Leaving the stamp uncolored...."is that a word?"...adds to the old age effect. This is a really nice card.
My prayers are with you and your family, and may God ease your pain. God bless and keep you.

    With LOVE Judi
