Let's Ink it Up!

As most of you know, I was away from my crafty studio for most of June. Here is some proof...

Approaching Hubbard Glacier

Awesome, right?! I'll share more as I find time to sort thorough the photos! Anyway, when we got back from our trip I had to dive into CHA projects as they had to be mailed by July 10th, giving me only 10 days to do umpteen projects for two companies!

Here is one inky project I made for Hampton Art Stamps, using their 7Gypsies line of stamps, and some 7Gypsies papers.

The designer paper was originally black and white. To create this beautiful blue background, first stamp the butterflies (7 Gypsies IC0195 Butterflies) with Jasmine and Patina Mix'd Media Ink (from Colorbox). Emboss the images with clear embossing powder.

The Mix'd Media Inx are really juicy, with a long dry time. They are made to be used with mixed media and canvas projects. But, I just treated them like a pigment ink, and embossed them with clear powder. The butterflies look amazing over the text paper!

Once the embossing is cool to the touch, spray the paper lightly with Splash, River Mossy, and Sea Breeze Smooch Spritz ink. Use a paper towel to wipe the Smooch Spritz from the embossed butterflies. The embossing will resist the ink.

You can use this technique on a full sheet of 12x12 paper, then trim the paper to make cards or tags. The Mix'd Media Inx stay wet a long time, so you can stamp a bunch of images and emboss them all at once. Then spray the whole sheet with your mists!

  1. Great photo, Gloria! So happy you got to take this wonderful trip with your honey!

The card is fab...love the color you ended up with. The bow really sets everything off. Is the studio holding up? Thought of you yesterday as I literally could not find a bare spot on my desk! LOL
