Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge #63

Here we go! The first Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge for 2013! Let me just stop and say how happy I am to be part of the Special Events Team for RRR. You have no idea how happy this team makes me. I love all of my teams (honestly, I do!) but this "little ribbon team" holds a special, warm place in my heart! I adore Bonnie and the DT girls. They are the best of the best!

Ok, now to the challenge! You are to make a project using your NEW TOYS, plus ribbon. If you did not get a new crafting toy for Christmas nor purchased any new papercrafting toys recently, then use something that you purchased a while ago that is still in the packaging. Don't look at me like that! I know a hoarder when I see one!

I used new stamps and dies from My Favorite Things (Christmas gifts from my kids), plus some new ribbon that I purchased from RRR. And, I also used some paper that I purchased in the early fall, but had not yet opened. See, I covered all the bases!

When I first saw the Gift Card Pocket die templates from MFT, I knew I had to have them! There are two: one horizontal and one vertical. There are also several matching sets of stamps! One of my local pals (Melody from A Paper Melody) is on the MFT design team and enables me terribly!

The inspiration behind this card is my oldest brother's birthday, which is January 1st. This card is not for him, however. But the fact that he has a New Year's birthday inspired me to create a time-themed birthday card. (Sorry, Don. No offense, but I did NOT get you a $25 gift card! Happy 64th Birthday, Big Brother!)

Look at this ribbon! I buy a lot of cream and white ribbons. Not only are they pretty, but you can dye them to match your papers and other embellishments. I kept these cream. Stunning! I used the Champagne Chevron Striped Twill and Ivory Diamond Satin.

I also used the new Postage Stamp Stax die template from MFT. I have a postage stamp die set from Spellbinders, but it is square. This one is rectangle. All my bases are now covered!

I used the new MFT stamps for the inside of the card (and for the little tag on the front). The stamps are made to stamp onto the front of the Gift Card Pockets, but...I never play by the rules! The little happy birthday stamp is from Doodlebug Design. Same font, so they play nicely together!

Thanks for looking! Visit the RRR Blog to see the other entries...and to enter your own project!

  5. Saw this card over at RRR and just had to come take a closer look. It's GORGEOUS! Love all the patterns and textures, plus how you've used two ribbons and double tied them. I must try that - I'm always looking for new ways to make pretty bows. I completely appreciated the step by step details and photos to go with them. You have a lovely blog, and you write very well. Wait, I've just finished going through the first page on your blog - you write (and create) BEAUTIFULLY. Count me as your newest follower! I've already pulled several bits of inspiration from just the first page alone and I am going to love wandering through your blog, I can tell. Have a lovely day! :)
