Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge #152

It is time for the weekly Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge.

The Shining Light Challenge ODBDSLC152 is to make a project that contains piercing or real stitching. I confess that I tore my studio apart today looking for a piercing template for circles. I know I have one, but I could NOT find it. I had to do the circles freehand!

I pierced around the blue square (with an old Stampin' Up piercing template). Some of the piercing was a bit wonky, so I distressed the paper to hide it. (Hey, we all have our secrets!) I love the boat and map stamp (Surging Sea). I stamped it on off-white cardstock and matted it with blue paper.

I used sentiments from the Sentiments Collection 2. I love the fonts in this set! After I stamped the sentiment, I die cut it with a circle template and then sponged some blue ink onto the paper before removing the template. That gave me a border all around the circle to follow with my piercing tool. You can see I did not do a perfect job, but close enough.

I really love how this card turned out. It's pretty masculine, but still pretty. I dipped into my Graphic 45 French Country papers. I love the 8x8 and 6x6 pads!

I also decorated the inside of the card. The stamp is also from the Sentiments Collection 2 set.

I carried the piercing into the inside as well. I did a bit better job this time!

This card makes me think of my father-in-law. He loved the water, boating, and fishing. I do hope there are lakes and oceans in Heaven for him to enjoy! We lost Dad to cancer in June 2011 and I still find it hard to believe that he's gone. He would have loved this card, I am sure!
