Winter Wonderland

Hello! I bet you were all wondering when I was planning to post a new project! And if you weren't, pretend that you were! I have a simple layout to share. I made this for WorldWin Papers for their Winter CHA booth.

I know, not my normal style! But sometimes, ya gotta change it up a bit! This lovely dark blue cardstock is called Flag Blue and is part of the ColorMates Smooth and Silky line. The photo was taken by Evelyn DeWald, who is part of my hometown online community. She takes amazing photos of the area around my hometown, located in central Pennsylvania. She graciously allowed me to scrap her photo!

I did some fake stitching around the edge of the layout, using a white pen and a hole poker thingie. See that scrap of embossed white cardstock? Love that embossing folder! So grunge!

I  used some Spellbinders dies to make a snowflake. I cut Off White and Pale Blue ColorMates Smooth and Silky cardstock and Silver and White Twist. It looks so icy!

I made the title with my NEW Dymo Label Maker that I got for Christmas....well, ok... My craft group has a "gift grab" every year at our Christmas party. My friend Melody (A Paper Melody) got the Dymo, but I "grabbed" it from her ('cause that's how I roll). But, my old Dymo had broken the week before and I NEEEEDED it! Ok!?!

Thanks for stopping by!

PS - For those wondering, my back injury is doing ok. Not great, but I have been changing my lifestyle to accommodate the situation. I still have good days and bad since degenerative disc disease and arthritis don't go away. But, I am learning to cope, to listen to my body, and to figure out new ways of doing things that cause less stress to my spine.

  1. I know you have been struggling with back issues and that awful cold, so it's good to see you post instead of trying to keep us all in line. I love your layout. Since I don't scrapbook anymore because I'm terrible at it, I love to see everyone's layouts. I really love the shades of blue and the snowflake. Well done.

  2. Beautiful LO. Love the colors! The snowflake is fabulous. Ever since I saw this LO in the CHA pictures, I thought the stitching was real. Thanks for sharing a way even I can add stitching. lol

  3. I love the winter blues! This is such a great layout on so many levels: great texture from the distressing, great visual interest from the faux stitching and "chomped" corners, great job of picking up the colors in the photo....and restful to the eyes. I really like it!

  5. Very nice layout, Gloria. You are right, you did think outside of your normal box on this one, but it turned out wonderfully! Oh, and great "steal" from Melody, lol...
