Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #2

Welcome! This is my project for Challenge #2 at the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog! I have to tell you, I am BLOWN away by the response to the first challenge! I had hoped for 20 participants and we got over 100. For our first challenge! How coolio is that?!! If you missed playing last time, you have two weeks to play in the new challenge!

Challenge #2: Let's See that Hoard!
This is a Color Challenge with a twist. Pick the thing or things that you seem to hoard the most, and using the color scheme shown below, create a project that showcases your hoarded item or items. Do you hoard buttons, beads, ribbon, papers, stickers? Show your hoard, but only the items that match the color scheme! (Please note, you do not have to use all the colors in the photo, nor match the colors exactly. Just use the photo and the colors to inspire you to dig through your hoard.)

One talented participant will receive this prize pack, donated by Shari Czerwinski, Independent Consultant for Close to My Heart! To learn more about CTMH or their products, please visit Shari's CTMH site, HERE. For more information about Shari, and to see what crafty things she is currently working on, visit her blog, Lead and Lace Gifts.

Here is my project. (And I confess that my write up may be less than intended because Blogger ate my original post and I have had to do this twice!) Anyway...I created a 12x12 altered "canvas" using hoarded blue items. It is not really a canvas, but rather a home decor piece mounted on chipboard. It is more than a scrapbook page, but less than a canvas.

Check out all of that lovely blue paper. Some of the paper is hoarded Graphic 45 Secret Garden and some is "newly hoarded" Sweet Sentiments. I chose the pale blue and gray tones from the inspiration photo, plus some lacy elements to mimic the flower in the inspiration photo.

My main inspiration was the vintage postcard image. I had downloaded the image ages ago and was hoarding it. I finally printed it out onto some pale cream cardstock and used it! It is so pretty with the blues and pops of red!

I created a flower cluster with hoarded flowers and the sparkly dove - hoarded from some Christmas projects. I purchased extra birds just to have a few to hoard! {sick, sick sick}

The chipboard tag is from G45 Secret Garden. I don't have much of the chipboard from that collection so I hoard it viciously. And please ignore the upside-down text on my lacy, die cut heart! I cut out that ding dang heart about 6 times! First I had the wrong paper, then I cut the wrong side, then the die did not cut all the way through, then....whew. Finally,  I said, let's use it and hope people cannot tell it's upside-down. But I cannot stand to "fib" so.....you know the sordid truth!

I also used a hoarded chipboard lattice for the background. This is new to the hoard, but I confess to having more of them in various styles. I never use them. I just hoard them. So...ta da. I sprayed it with, what else, hoarded ink mists and used it!

More flowers. Some are sprayed with mists. I added some pops of red to my project. And, can you see the blue button? Under the blue rose in the foreground? That has been in my hoard for YEARS. I just could not make myself use it.... It hurt a bit, but here it is!

I used my ancient deco scissors to trim the postage images to look like real postage stamps...sorta.

The sentiment is a Taylored Expressions stamp that I have hoarded - without inking - for over a year!

I also hoard ideas! The idea for this rolled corner has been rattling around in my brain for ages! I finally decided to try it. It makes the layout too lumpy for a scrapbook album, but it is perfect for a display piece. I covered both sides of the cardstock with printed paper and then rolled the corner around a pencil. I only used 3x3 or 4x4 inch squares of the printed paper on each corner area, not the whole sheet. I mean, face it, I have to hoard some of the paper for later!

See the cream lace that I made into a rosette? Under the white rose? I hoard that lace, too. I get it from Really Reasonable Ribbon and hoard it. Just in case Bonnie ever decides to discontinue it, I will have tons!

I hope you had fun today! Thanks for looking! Go use your hoard! Look for blue stuff and use it up!

Oh boy, your hoard must be huge and beautiful! i love that blue Button, so pretty and worth using on a display piece. you get to see it daily! i loved your heart die cut story. i am trying to learn to use my Cameo - which at this point qualifies as a hoarded item! anyway, so far the cuts are not usable... but I will get it right. i may not mention it on the blog though:-) once I am even a bit succesful.
    Loving this blue challenge, it is my fave colour. The question now is which things to use?
