Crafty Secrets July Linky Party - Guest DT

(If you are looking for the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #11, please click HERE.)

Good morning! I am one lucky bug because I get to be part of Crafty Secrets July Linky Party! I am joining the Crafty Secrets design team this month, and we are sharing some wonderful tutorials featuring papers, stamps, and ephemera from Crafty Secrets

I have been a long time fan of Crafty Secrets stamps and vintage ephemera, so when Kathy (the DT Leader) asked me to be a guest for July, I jumped at the chance. Ok, so maybe I asked begged HER to allow me to guest design...that sounds a bit more like the truth...

Here is my vintage, summer-themed card!

As soon as I saw this image in the Summertime Vintage Image and Journal Notes Booklet, I knew she was going to be my focal image! She's adorable! I collect vintage "ladies" and she is a wonderful specimen for my collection. The little booklet is FILLED with other fun images, too!

I created an odd card size this time. For some reason, I made a 4 1/2 x 6 inch card. I love to make top-fold cards, and you cannot make a top-fold 5x7-inch card in the landscape format unless you have 14-inch paper! So...I compromised.

I trimmed some decorative plaid paper to slightly smaller than the card front and wrapped it the bottom with lace and twill before attaching the paper to the card.

I trimmed out a cream mat, approximately 1/4 inches larger than the image, and tucked it behind the lace. I then added some "wave" designer paper, cut slightly larger then the image.

I trimmed out the sea-bathing lady, and rubbed the edges with ink. To give the image more dimension, I attached it to a scrap of chipboard, and then added foam adhesive to the back before attaching the image to the card. I attached the image over the top of the lace and twill.

Using a small label punch, I punched out the sentiment from the Crafty Secrets Summertime Printable Sheet. I rubbed the labels with ink and attached them to the right side of the image. I added a blue sequin and a tiny, twine bow.

I cut a strip of stamp images from decorative paper. I folded them and wrinkled them, then attached the strip to the bottom of the image.

From the  Summertime Printable Sheet, I used a circle punch to punch out the "photo" of bathing ladies. I also punched a few circles from lightweight chipboard. I stacked all the circles to make a dimensional embellishment. I added the circle to the lower right of the image.

I love a bit of whimsy on my vintage cards, so I created this pipe and spigot to look like it was going to "rain" on the lady's umbrella.

I finished off the card front by adding a few vintage-looking flowers here and there.

But, you know that I also have to decorate the inside...

When you open this beauty, you see a pocket for holding notes and a gift card, plus a journal spot!

I covered the card panel with decorative paper and then I made a gift card pocket out of more paper. I trimmed images from the Crafty Secrets Seasonal Image and Journal Notes Booklet and the Vintage Girlfriends Image and Journal Notes Booklet and tucked these journal blocks into the pocket. I also added a "stamp" trimmed from the Mini Vintage Creative Scraps.

I stamped a sentiment onto cream cardstock and trimmed it out with a circle punch. I added the sentiment to the pocked, and topped it with a sequin and a tiny twine bow. This is perfect for adding a gift card or some gift coupons!

I covered the other inside panel with decorative paper and a large journal spot trimmed from the Crafty Secrets Seasonal Image and Journal Notes Booklet. I stamped the sentiment onto the "banner" of the journal spot.

I hope you enjoyed my guest spot project for Crafty Secrets!

  9. Perfect inside and out. As you know I love that pipe and tap and it's placement is perfect. The fold you did on the strip of stamps is so much more interesting than a straight strip would have been, I'll have to remember that. I also love the tags. So happy to have you aboard for the summer.
