Country Blessings Tag

I will be sharing four projects a month for Crafty Secrets. I will share one large project at the beginning of each month as part of the monthly Blog Linky Party, plus three other projects during the month.

I made a mini album for my August Blog Linky Party project. (Click HERE to see it.) This page that I made for the mini inspired me to get creative with kraft tags.

I used a Graphic 45 kraft tag for a page in my mini, and I loved how it turned out!

Here is the reverse.

The tags for the mini inspired me to create a "farm fresh" tag to share with you today. I grew up in central Pennsylvania, right in the heart of farm country. My dad lived on a farm until he was 10 and my mom lived on a farm until she married my dad at age 18. Many of my aunts and uncles lived on farms, or had orchards, or just had HUGE garden patches. We did not have a farm, however, at times we had a calf, chickens, and rabbits, not to mention various dogs and cats. So, yes, I was a country girl. I moved away when I was 18, for the city and the suburbs, but I am still a country girl at heart.

I created a shabby, county tag - just because I love the colors and I ADORE roosters and chickens. I used a Graphic 45 kraft tag for my base. I rubbed the edges with Vintage Photo ink. My background paper is Crafty Secrets digital paper, from the Patterns CD. I printed the chicken wire and the tablecloth check patterns at 8 x 8 inches onto off-white cardstock.

The fancy rooster is an image that I cut from Farm Fresh Creative Scraps. I used scissors to cut a rough edge, as if this was a torn and aged piece of paper. I inked the edges of Mr. Rooster with Vintage Photo ink. I also trimmed out the sentiment from the Creative Scraps sheet.

I added a cork star, cut from cork paper using a star die cut template. I tucked a chicken "stamp," which I cut from the Mini Vintage Creative Scraps, behind some ribbon and twine. I also added some paper leaves and a few berries that I found rolling around in the bottom of my decorative florals bin.

That lovely, cream lace is from Really Reasonable Ribbon (Jennifer Natural Crochet Lace). The gingham ribbons are ends that I found in my ribbon bag. The canvas "ribbon" is a scrap left over from a project I did earlier in the month. {Using it up, Boss, using it up!}

This tag will make a wonderful addition to a card, mini album, or scrapbook page. Or, it would make a great gift bag decoration, or a gift tag. The back is covered with kraft cardstock, so it would be easy to stamp or write a sentiment to a special friend and then attach this to a package.

I hope you enjoyed this Crafty Secrets post! Come back on August 27th for my next Crafty Secrets project!
