Heartfelt Creations - Semifinalist Project 2

Good morning, Blogger Peeps! Here is the second part of my semifinalist submission for the Heartfelt Creations design team call. They sent me items from the Classic Sunflower Collection to work with. I recently purchased a stamp and die set from the Sun Kissed Fleur collection, so I used those as well.

For my second project, I created a 12 x 12 scrapbook layout.

I wanted to show Heartfelt Creations that I could use their papers, as well as show them that I was able to create my own flowers. The photo is a stock photo from an online store, advertising the plaid throws (Pendleton Woolen Mills, perhaps).

To create this layout, trim plaid pattern paper slightly smaller than 12 x 12 inches. Using a craft knife or sharp scissors, remove the center of the paper, leaving a frame approximately two inches wide. (This is to "save" some of the paper, rather than wasting the full sheet when all you need to show are the edges.) Set the removed paper aside.

Distress and crumple the edges of the frame. Attach the pattern paper frame to a piece of 12 x 12-inch black cardstock. Trim "Sunshine" border pattern paper to slightly smaller than the base cardstock. Rip, distress, and crumple the edges as desired. Rotate the "Sunshine" border paper so that the border text is horizontal. Attach to the plaid paper, allowing some of the plaid paper to show along the edges and corners.

Trim the pocket image from pattern paper and mat with black cardstock. Using foam squares, attach the pocket to the bottom left corner of the base page. Cut tassel from printed paper and attach to the pocket rivet.

Cut elegant post from black cardstock. Color with silver ink. Use foam squares to attach post to the upper left corner of the base page, approximately two inches from the top and three inches from the left edge. Mount photo onto black cardstock and attach directly under the elegant post using foam squares.

Cut sprockets from black cardstock and color with silver ink. Attach largest sprocket under the bottom right edge of the photo. Cut circle from plaid printed paper and attach to center of sprocket. Add next largest sprocket on top of the plaid paper. Tuck a sprocket into the top of the pocket and another under the bottom right corner of the pocket. Reserve the remaining sprockets.

Create approximately 11 flowers of various sizes. Stamp both the Classic Sunflower and the Sun Kissed Fleur images with brown dye ink onto off-white cardstock. Stamp images a second time onto printed paper. Use the Classic Sunflower and Sun Kissed Fleur dies to cut out the flowers. Color the flowers with Distress inks and shape. Glue flowers together. Add gems and glitter to the centers. Arrange flowers at the top left edge of the base page, at the bottom right edge of the photo, and at the right edge of the pocket.

Cut leaves and vines from green cardstock. Color with Distress ink and shape. Attach leaves and vines to the flower clusters. Tuck remaining sprockets into flower clusters. Cut the "Enjoy the Beauty" phrase from printed paper. Shape and attach to the right edge of the photo flower cluster using foam squares.

I will share more of my submission projects throughout the week!
