I am still on my "white space" adventure, and today I have a fancy frame card to share with you.
I really love this stamp set from the Home Sweet Home Cling Stamp Set. I had planned to cover all the flowers with 3D flowers, but once I had the image all colored, I could not bear to cover it up! So, I just kept it "flat" and decided to do a decorative frame instead!
I have long admired designers who use fancy, scroll-y frames. But, I have never really gotten the hang of it. A few weeks ago, my Graphic 45 DT box contained a few new Spellbinders dies for me to play with, and one was this Regal Frame template. It inspired me to create this "faux" frame around my image. Here is what to do:
Create a 6" x 4 1/2" top-fold card by trimming flag blue cardstock to 12" x 4 1/2" and scoring at 6". Trim Birds and Blooms pale blue paper to 5 7/8" x 4 3/8". Sponge the edges with ice blue chalk ink and attach the panel to the card front.
Use the Spellbinders Regal Frame die template to trim a frame from flag blue cardstock. Attach the frame to the card front with foam adhesive.
Stamp the birdhouse image from the Home Sweet Home Cling Stamp Set onto white cardstock with brown ink. Color the image with alcohol markers. Use the Spellbinders Regal Frame die template to cut out the image. Sponge the edges of the image with ice blue chalk ink. Attach the image to the center of the card with foam adhesive.
Create a bow from blue ribbon and glue the bow to the lower left corner of the image. Stamp the flowers from the Birds and Blooms Cling Stamp Set twice onto white cardstock with brown ink. Color the flowers with alcohol markers. Use the Leafy Branch die to cut out the flowers. Shape them and glue three flowers to each corner of the card as shown.
Stamp the leaves from the Leafy Branch Cling Stamp set twice onto white cardstock with brown ink. Color the leaves with alcohol markers. Use the Leafy Branch die to cut out the leaves. Shape the leaves and glue one leaf cluster to each corner of the card as shown. Add an extra leaf cluster to the ribbon corner.
To decorate the inside of the card, trim white cardstock to 5 7/8" x 4 3/8". Sponge the edges with ice blue chalk ink and attach the panel to the inside of the card. Trim a strip of Birds and Blooms paper 1" x 4 3/8". Sponge the edges with ice blue chalk ink and attach the strip to the bottom of the white panel.
Use gray ink to stamp a sentiment from the All Occasion Sentiments Cling Stamp Set onto the inside panel. Stamp a section of the branch image from the Birds and Blooms Cling Stamp set with brown ink onto the upper left corner of the inside panel. Color the image with alcohol markers.
