Heartfelt Creations Wednesday - Gift Card Holder

Welcome to another Heartfelt Creations Wednesday! I am still working with the February Release - Butterfly Medley! This collection not only has pinks and purples, but also orange and yellow. I decided to pair the orange with the aqua blue since orange and blue are complementary colors.

I created a "crisscross" pocket card for you today!

This is a 6" x 6" card with lots of pizazz, especially if you add a colorful gift card!

The pocket contains a pull-out, which also has a pocket! Pockets are my favorite!

Let's make this bad boy!

Trim two sheets of gray cardstock to 6" x 12". Score both pieces at 6" on the long side, creating four 6" x 6" panels. Trim one piece of the scored cardstock from the score line to the lower left corner, creating a diagonal flap from the left-most panel. Trim the second piece of scored cardstock from the score line to the lower right corner, creating a second diagonal flap from the right-most panel.

Place adhesive on the back of the 6" x 6" section of cardstock with the right-hand diagonal flap. Attach the two pieces of gray cardstock together by the 6" x 6" panels, creating one 6" x 6" panel with two diagonal flaps, one on the left and one on the right.

Trim one piece of mini-print blue flowered Butterfly Medley paper to 5 7/8" x 5 7/8. Attach the flowered panel to the 6" x 6" gray cardstock center panel. Place a thin strip of adhesive on the bottom edge of the right-hand diagonal flap. Fold the flap on the score line, toward the center, and attach to the square panel.

Trim orange plaid Butterfly Medley paper to 5 7/8" x 5 7/8". Trim plaid paper in half on the diagonal. Place one of the resulting plaid triangles on the right flap, which was just attached to the center square panel. Place a thin strip of adhesive on the bottom edge of the right-hand diagonal flap. Fold the left flap on the score line, toward the center, and attach to the square panel.

Place the second orange plaid triangle on the left flap. You have created a "crisscross" pocket card, measuring 6" x 6". Trim a piece of the blue flowered Butterfly Medley paper to 5 7/8" x 5 7/8" and attach it to the back of the pocket.

Wrap a length of orange grosgrain ribbon around the pocket card, approximately 1 1/2" from the bottom edge. Secure the ribbon at the front with tape. Stamp the large rose image from the Botanical Rose Bouquet Cling Stamp Set onto white cardstock with black ink.

Color the image with alcohol markers as shown. Trim the image using the Spellbinders Label Ten die template. Sponge the edges of the image with sweet melon pigment ink. Attach the image to the bottom front edge of the crisscross card with foam adhesive. Tie a double bow from orange grosgrain and teal sheer ribbons. Attach the bow to the left edge of the image. Using the ticket die from the Luggage and Tags Die Set, trim out the "Thinking of You" sentiment from the Butterfly Medley paper. Attach the sentiment to the lower right edge of the image with foam adhesive.

Create a pull-out gift card pocket by trimming gray cardstock to 5 1/2" x 5 3/4". (Make sure your cardstock will slide into the crisscross pocket. Adjust measurements as necessary.) Trim blue flowered Butterfly Medley paper to 5 3/8" x 5 5/8". Attach to the gray cardstock. Trim gray cardstock to 2 1/2" x 5 3/4". Use a 1 1/2" circle punch to cut a notch in the top center of the cardstock strip. Place adhesive on the bottom and sides of the strip and attach it to the bottom of the larger panel, creating a pocket. Trim orange plaid paper to 2 3/8" x 5 3/8". Use a 1 3/4" circle punch to cut a notch in the top center of the paper. Attach the plaid paper to the gray cardstock pocket trip. Stamp the birthday sentiment from the All Occasion Cling Stamp Set onto white cardstock with pumice stone distress ink. Trim the sentiment with the 1 3/4" circle punch. Sponge the edges of the circle with sweet melon pigment ink. Attach the sentiment to the lower right corner of the gift card pocket.

Trim a short length of orange grosgrain ribbon and glue to the top of the card. (Use the ribbon as a "handle" to remove the pocket from the crisscross card.) Place a gift card into the pocket. Trim white cardstock to 5 3/8" x 5 5/8" and attach to the back of the gift card pocket to allow for writing a personal message. Slip the gift card pocket into the crisscross pocket.
