Heartfelt Creations Wednesday - Rustic Watercolor

Welcome to another Heartfelt Creations Wednesday! Today is all about water coloring! My very lovely friend, Pam Bray, sent me a set of watercolor pencils and...I had to play with them. Watercolor is not something in my skill set. However, I had such fun that I unearthed an older set of pencils that I had in a bin, plus I purchased a pad of watercolor paper. The rest is, as they say, history!

I used the new Everyday Heroes paper pad and an image from the Countryside Evening Collection (2013 collection) to create this 6" x 6" card. I loved working with the watercolor pencils! I am used to working with Copic markers and even regular colored pencils, but watercolor is something I have done rarely. I found that using the pencils with a water brush - the kind of brush that you fill with water - worked very well.

Create a 6" x 6", top-fold card by cutting black cardstock to 12" x 6" and scoring at 6" on the long side. Trim Everyday Heroes newsprint paper to 5 7/8" x 5 7/8" and sponge edges with Walnut Stain ink. Attach the panel to the card front. Trim black cardstock to 5 1/2" x 2" and attach to the right edge of the card. Trim Everyday Heroes dot paper to 5 3/8" x 1 7/8" and sponge edges with Walnut Stain ink. Attach the panel to the black cardstock mat on the right side of the card. Trim black cardstock to 3" x 6" and attach to the center of the card front. Trim Everyday Heroes stripe paper to 2 7/8" x 5 7/8" and sponge edges with Walnut Stain ink. Attach the panel to the black mat in the center of the card.

Use the large rounded rectangle from the Cut Mat Create 2A die set to trim out a piece of black cardstock. Attach the cardstock to the card front with foam tape, approximately 1 1/2" from the top and 3/8" from the left edge. Stamp the Antique Lantern Cling Stamp onto watercolor paper with black pigment ink. Allow the ink to dry and then color the image and background with watercolor pencils and paints. Allow the paper to dry completely. Use the large rounded rectangle from the Cut Mat Create 2B die set to trim out the image. Sponge the edges with Walnut Stain ink. Attach the image to the black mat on the card front with strong double-sided tape. Glue a metal word charm to the upper left corner of the image. Attach a gingham bow to the charm.

Stamp the flowers from the Botanical Rose Cling Stamp Set with black pigment ink onto white cardstock. Color the flowers with Spun Sugar distress ink. Use the Botanical Wings Die to cut out the flowers. Shape the flowers and sponge with Walnut Stain ink. Glue the flowers to the card front as shown.

Decorate the inside of the card by trimming ivory cardstock to 5 7/8" x 5 7/8" and sponging the edges with Walnut Stain ink. Mask off part of the sentiment from the the Antique Lantern Cling Stamp Set and stamp it onto the top of the ivory panel with Walnut Stain ink. Trim a strip of the Everyday Heroes stripe paper to 1 1/2" x 5 7/8". Sponge edges with Walnut Stain ink and attach the strip to the bottom of the ivory panel. Attach the ivory panel to the inside of the card.
