Christmas Memories Mini Album - Part 2

Hello everyone! I am back with another guest post for Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts. Last week I shared Part 1 of a Christmas mini album. Check that out HERE. Today, I am sharing Part 2!

Last week, I shared a tutorial for creating the binder for the mini album. This week I am sharing the inside pages!

I made eight pages, using the pages from the Art Journal. I could not use all of the pages that came with the journal because the album became too fat for the binding I chose!

The mini is nice and chunky, with lots of pockets, spots for journaling, and plenty of room for photos!

Collect your Art Journal pages and decide how many pages you wish to create. Chose papers to match the album cover, as shown HERE. Choose the Gypsy Soul Laser Cut chipboard elements you wish to use, along with any other embellishments.

The Art Journal pages are a bit too wide for the binding we are using, so you will need to trim 1/2" or so from the binding edge to make the pages fit. Once your pages are trimmed to size, use a sturdy hole punch, such as the Crop-A-Dile, to punch new holes to match up with your binding rings.

You may want to punch all the holes first to make sure the pages fit into the binder properly. I tend to punch my holes twice - once to fit the pages and then again after the decorative paper is attached. Make a template and punch all the holes once you have added the decorative paper to the pages. I had a few "hole mishaps," so I reinforced a few of the pages with some washi tape. My pages are 4/12" x 7 1/2", not counting the tabbed edges.

Once your pages are cut to size, cover each page with decorative paper. Use a craft knife to trim edges as needed.

Decorate your pages as desired! To see how I decorated my pages, look at the following photos!

Page 1: A pocket page with a few decorative bits. I used the Winter Shape Set and the Victorian Corners 1 (coming in January). I like to use raw chipboard with pre-printed chipboard elements. The contrast between the inked laser cut pieces and the chunky pre-printed embellishments is so pretty!

Page 2: A simple pocket page, decorated with one of the words from the Words and Phrases 1 Set. I had a stack of journaling cards, pocket cards, and ephemera cut from decorative paper to add to my pockets.

Page 3: A pocket page that also flips up to reveal a second pocket! I used the Winter Shape Set and the Snowflake Shape Set. It is so easy to ink up the laser chip. I use pigment ink and a sponge dauber. It dries fairly quickly and looks amazing!

Here is Page 3 flipped open, showing the second pocket.

Page 4: A journaling spot, which flips up.

When you flip Page 4, there is plenty of space for photos! I created most of the flip pages by scoring a 1/2" hinge and cutting the edge with a decorative border punch.

Page 5: A diagonal pocket page. I used Victorian Corners 2 (coming in January).

Page 6: Another diagonal pocket page. I used Miniature Bookplates Shape Set. I love the tiny bookplates! They are perfect for framing small images or pieces of decorative paper. They come with the tiny holes pre-drilled! I found some tiny brads in my stash to add to them!

Page 7: Another pocket page with a fun pocket topper!

Page 8: A tag pocket to hold...more tags!

Page 9: This page contains two, shallow pockets, perfect for bits of ephemera. I added the chipboard button to one of the laser cut snowflakes. The shimmery string adds a festive touch.

I hope you enjoyed looking at the inside pages for this album.

This mini is so fun, with lots of tags and pockets! It is a great way to use up some of that Christmas paper we are all hoarding. Plus, what a great way to add some custom laser cut chipboard embellishments!
