Clean and Simple Mother's Day Card

Hello, Gang! It is my turn on the CutCardStock Blog today. I am sharing a Clean and Simple (CAS) Mother's Day Card. {Please, don't faint!}

Let me say that the "simple" in Clean and Simple is a big, fat lie! It took me longer to make this "simple" card than it does to make one of my loaded projects! It's hard to make stuff look simple! I have long admired this style of card making, but I have only recently attempted it myself. I really enjoyed the process, but....simple...not!

I am a HUGE fan of kraft, white, and red! I used a panel from Brown Bag Kraft A6 Invitations to create the card front. I decorated a matching Brown Bag A6 Envelope with white embossing and some red details. Adding touches of white (Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock) and red (Red Lacquer Curious Metallic Cardstock) makes this kraft card pop!

To create this card, begin by cutting a Brown Bag Kraft A6 Invitation in half. The panel will be 4 1/2" x 6 1/4". Stamp the image onto the right side of the kraft cardstock with black ink. Color the image with Copic markers and add detail with a White Uniball Signo pen. Use a stitched rectangle die cut template to trim the image to 4 1/2" x 5 3/4".

Use clear embossing ink to stamp "mother's day" across the bottom left of the card. Heat emboss with white embossing powder. Using a word die, cut "happy" from Red Lacquer Curious Metallic Cardstock. Glue the word to the card front as shown. Use the white pen to add splatters to the card front.

Cut a panel of Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock to 4 5/8" x 6 1/4". Cut a second panel to 4 5/8" x 6 3/4' and score on the short side at 1/2" from the top edge to create a tab. Use Score-tape to attach the 4 5/8" x 6 1/4" panel to the tab, creating a top-fold card.

Attach the kraft panel to the white card base, approximately 1/8" from the bottom edge. Trim a scrap of Classic Crest Solar White cardstock with the stitched rectangle die and then cut the edge with a scallop border punch. Line up the stitch lines on the left and right edges of the scallop border with those of the kraft panel. Attach the border to the top of the card, 1/8" from the top edge. Trim a scrap of Red Lacquer Curious Metallic cardstock with the stitched rectangle die, trim the piece to 4 5/8" x 1/4" and attach to the top of the card front as shown.

Line the inside of the card with Red Lacquer Curious Metallic cardstock cut to 4 1/2" x 6 1/8". Trim the left over piece of the Brown Bag Kraft A6 Invitation to 4 1/4" x 5 7/8" and attach it to the center of the red panel. Trim Classic Crest Solar White cardstock to 4 1/8" x 5 3/4" and stamp the flower image into the lower right corner with chalk inks. Attach the image to the center of the kraft panel.

Create a matching envelope by stamping the flower image into the lower left corner of a Brown Bag A6 Envelope with clear embossing powder. Heat emboss with white embossing powder. Trim a scrap of Red Lacquer Curious Metallic cardstock with the stitched rectangle die, trim the piece to 1/4" wide and attach to the bottom edge of the envelope as shown.
