Really Reasonable Ribbon April Blog Hop

Good morning ribbon lovers! I am here with the Really Reasonable Ribbon April Blog HopYou should be coming to my blog from the Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog. (For the complete blog list, scroll to the bottom of the post.) After visiting me, hop over to the spectacular Ginny's Blog next!

Here is a peeky at the RRR April Ribbon Club Assortment. This assortment is called Red and Turquoise Collection, and....well, it's red and turquoise! One of my favorite color combinations all in one pretty, little, package!

When I saw the April Ribbon Club, I knew what papers I wanted to use (Graphic 45 Home Sweet Home) and what I wanted to make (a recipe book for my brother). And....that is NOT what happened! By the time I got around to my project, a new idea had formed in my head! {Hey, whatever!}
I ended up making a fold-out section for a Disney album that I am working on! I went to Walt Disney World with my husband and three kids in January, so I have a lot of photos! (Ok, so the kids took a lot of photos. My kids are 24, 20, and 15, so they love taking selfies and such!)

Instead of making a recipe book, I am using the Simple Stories Say Cheese and Say Cheese II collections to make a "grown up" Disney album! The album will have 9 page sections when I am finished with it. I have the album base and spine finished, along with the 9 page hinges, but this fold-out is the FIRST page section I have managed to complete!
The fold-out is 7" x 6" when folded up. There is an opening in the back where I can slip the fold-out into the album. (You will have to WAIT for the finished project, hopefully before we are all old and gray - or older and grayer.) I trimmed the flap into a chevron to match the chevron flags on the paper.

I added some of the pre-cut images and stickers from the paper collections to the front of the fold-out. I also added a flair button to act as a handle for the flap. There are magnets under the flair to keep the flaps closed.

The highlight is that fabby bow, made with the Red and White Plaid Houndstooth and the Red and Turquoise Diamond Print Grosgrain ribbons. I glued a Mickey head to the top of the bow. (I purchased a new punch that creates the Mickey head, because everyone needs a Mickey-head punch!)

Lift the main flap and there is another fold down section that is 5" x 6".

The bottom panel folds down to reveal a pocket, and now the page is 17" x 6"!
The two center flaps fold open and the full page is 14" x 17"! Lots of rel estate for photos and journaling! To create this type of folder, I cut a base page that is 7" x 6" and then add each of the other pieces with 1/2" tabs. Once I have the album ready to share, I will do a tutorial to show how to do this!

Now, let;s look at each section in more detail.

The top section is the back of the closure flap. I added a pre-printed journaling card, to which I attached a "washi tape" sticker, a Micky head, and some stars.

The bottom section is a section of 6x6 printed paper. I wrapped some of the Red and White Plaid Houndstooth ribbon around the top of the paper. The sticker arrows are popped up from the ribbon with foam tape. I also added a tiny staple to the stickers for more dimension.

I created a 2 1/2" pocket for this section. The paper is printed with "layers," but I also added a Mickey punch and some stars. Inside the pocket is a Graphic 45 square tag and some journaling spots.

I had to trim the tag a bit so that it would fit into the pocket. I rounded the corners again, and then added some polka dot paper. I wrapped the top of the tag with the Red and Turquoise Diamond Print Grosgrain and added another Mickey punch to the edge to cover the ribbon seam.

The other side of the tag is more of the paper, in a striped design, with a pre-printed heart embellishment. The blue of the paper is a paler shade than the turquoise ribbon. I like the contrast as it makes everything pop!

The inside of the pocket is covered with a ticket print paper.

The center flaps are very simple and the same size, 7" x 4" each. I can add photos or a journaling card to each flap. I added the year with some sticker numbers to the left flap.

The two center flaps open to reveal more panels. I added some chevron arrows to the top corners of the left and right panels. The center panel is a pre-printed sheet (the Simple Stories collections come with lots of faux-dimensional papers. I did staple a bit of actual ribbon to the bottom.
I covered the back of the fold-out page with paper, and then added a tag and some journaling spots. The tag came with banners and some sewing already added, but I tied some ribbon (Red Diamond Satin and Turquoise Quatrafoil Print Satin) to the top. I also matted the tag with black cardstock. The paper is quite thin, and I wanted the tag to also be a pocket, so I "beefed" it up a bit with cardstock.

I hope you enjoyed my Disney project. I hope to work on more of the album, and actually add photos before the year is out! {grin}

Thanks for stopping by today! Now, hop over to Ginny's Blog to see what fan-tab-you-luss-ness she has for you!

    1. Edwina, I have some basic directions here, but no full tutorial. I may write one once the whole album is finished, depending on how much time I have to devote to it. We have been to WDW in 1991, 1999, and 2016. I think the next time will be once we have grandkids. ;)
