Craft Hoarders Anonymous June Blog Hop

Welcome to the Craft Hoarders Anonymous June 2016 Blog Hop! My blog is the first blog in the hop! After visiting me, hop over to Debbie Seyer's Blog next! For the full list of Bloggers, see the list at the end of this post!

For my project today, I am sharing Part II of a LARGE Disney Mini Album project. I started working on this back in March, and am slowly adding to it. In April I shared one of the page sections of the project (see it HERE), so today I want to share the album shell and a few more pages.
I am sharing this project for the Hoarders Hop because I have been hoarding Disney products since 2005! I have also purchased some new additions to the Disney hoard, but let's not talk about THAT! This project will be chock full of hoarded items by the time I finish it!

I created this mini in the same manner as I show in THIS TUTORIAL LINK. If you follow the tutorial link, you can see how to create a mini in any size and style. The Disney album has 7 1/4" x 6" chipboard covers. I wrapped the covers with Simple Stories papers (Say Cheese and Say Cheese II). I will decorate the cover as the last part of the project. While I am still messing about with the inside, I will keep the cover plain so I don't damage it.
The spine is approximately 7 1/4" x 4 1/2", made from kraft-tex covered with paper. The kraft-tex is a "leather" paper that makes for a strong, flexible binding.
I have not decided on a closure for the album yet. I originally planned on a ribbon, but decided that I did not care for that. I have an idea, but I will wait to see how fat the album gets before I add the mechanism.
I am using a hinge binding system, the same one I share in the tutorial link above. I have 9 hinges with 1/4" gutters between the hinges. I wish I had allowed 1/2" gutters now, but I will make it work the way it is. I will also decorate the inside covers later.  For now, I used 7 1/8" x 5 7/8" papers for the inside covers.
In April, I created one of the "page sets" for the album. This is going to be the last page set, so I am not putting it in yet. It will fit over the last hinge tab in the album.
If you want to see all the fold-outs for this page set, please click HERE. Once I am ready to assemble the book, I will show you how to add this page. I will be doing a video of the finished project, once it's all assembled. {No date on that, as I work on this in fits and starts!}
Now, on to the page section I finished for today. I started out by gluing page sections into the book. I had glued two sections when I realized that the better way would be to create them FIRST, and then attach them to the hinges. It is very hard to manage the album and pages when they are attached! (Now you can see why the section I shared above is not attached yet!) Since I had the cardstock already glued to the first two hinge tabs, I need to decorate them as removing them will tear the whole thing apart!

This section is 7" x 10 1/4" scored at 4 1/4 to make one panel that is 7" x 4 1/4" and one panel 7" x 6". I attached this "page" to the first tab of the book. The front section is decorated with one of the 6" x 4" cards from the Simple Stories collection, as well as some of the matching stickers and embellishments. I also added "2016" with sticker numbers.
When you open the first page flap, you can see that I created another flap with a right fold which is 6 1/8" x 4 1/8". (See it open below.) The larger, right-hand page is decorated as a journaling page.
The smaller, 6 1/8" x 4 1/8" booklet opens to reveal a photo mat and another journaling spot.
The back of the large page (7" x 6") has a pocket, that is also a photo holder. The blue and white dot paper is some older Echo Park paper that I found in my hoard (Little Boy). I basically went through my paper stash and pulled all papers that matched the Simple Stories Say Cheese color pallet. I have three paper bins and a large tote of product for this project. {Hello, I am Gloria and I am a Hoarder....}
The pocket is a Simple Stories product, but I added a Graphic 45 black ATC tag to it. I trimmed some of the pocket page cards to fit the tag.
I added some ribbon to the tag as well. I like that the Simple Stories papers are "pre-decorated" but I also like that I can add my own dimension. For the tag, I used some foam tape to add a little star and heart to the top left corner of the tag.
The next page section also begins with a full 7" x 6" page, so I decorated it also. (The rest of page section 2 will follow on another day.)
I created a belly band and slipped a few large tags under it. I added a sticker to the bottom of the page. The sticker is backed with thick cardstock and then popped up with foam squares. This acts as a stopper and keeps the tags from slipping out!
Ok, now for the story. Each of my hoarders projects has a story, right?! These large tags are 6 1/2" x 4 1/2" and have been in the hoard for about 6 years. They are part of a mini album that I never made! I had no rest until I could buy a certain album from Pine Cone Press. I just loved these large tags and the pockets that made up the album. Well, I purchased the project and then it has sat and sat and sat. I don't even know where the actual album part is! I think I used it for something else! So, I have a stack of these tags! (And all the pockets, which you will see later.) The tags, happily, fit into my Disney book perfectly!
I covered the front and back of both tags with paper. The yellow stripe is very old from Pine Cone Press. I used red and white polka dot (from Jillibean Soup) for the back of the tag. The yellow paper on the second tag is from Fancy Pants Nautical 6x6 pad. The back of that tag contains another piece of the Fancy Pants paper in a stripe. I tied some ribbon through the holes in the tags.

Thanks for visiting this month! I hope you are inspired to make something fun with some of your hoard! Dig around and see what treasures you can find! I will keep adding sections to this mini and sharing them with you! Stay tuned!
