Really Reasonable Blog Hop - April 2023

Welcome to the Really Reasonable Ribbon April Blog Hop! We have a THEME HOP again this month...each of the design team ladies is going to be creating a MOTHER'S DAY project

You should be coming to my blog from Ginny's Blog. After visiting me hop on to Kathy's Blog next! (The full blog list is at the end of the post.)

At the end of the hop, comment on the RRR Blog post, answering the question listed, for a chance to win a $10 Gift Card to the RRR Shop, plus one digital stamp set of your choice from Bonnie Garby Designs. The Design Team appreciates your comments, too!

I miss being able to make a card for my mom on Mother's Day (or her birthday, or any other day). Mom loved handmade things, and getting a card was more precious to her than any other gift! My mom died in 2015, but I still make a card with her in mind every year. A card that never gets mailed, but that I display for myself in her memory.
I used one of my mom's favorite colors for the card this year. She loved blue and purple. I chose a soft shade of heather purple for the card base. The card is 6" x 6", a large size, but I wanted to use the stunning lattice dies that I had in my stash...unopened!
I created the 6x6 card, and lined it with white cardstock to give space to stamp or write a message. (I often donate older cards to charity, so I do try to make the Mother's Day cards usable.)

I used Heartfelt Creations dies to cut out all the fancy lace (Courtyard Elegance dies). I had not used this die set yet, and while it is beautiful, I did have to shim the die and run it through my Big Shot Plus a bunch of times. I cut the lace pieces out of white and heather cardstock.

Note: In case you are wondering, my mother-in-law does not care for handmade items, so I often don't send cards to her. Her "love language" is getting bouquets of fresh cut flowers! {smile}
To create the bouquet on the card I used 5/8" Lavender Sheer Organza with Satin Center ribbon to make a loopy bow. I glued the bow onto the card with hot glue, arranging the loops as necessary.

I pulled from my stash of purple flowers, some of which are out of stock at the moment. But here is what I used: Lotus Flower (in lavender), Peony (try the mixed purple/lilac or the mixed colors), 2-Tone Lilac Cherry Blossoms, Mixed Purple Tone Rose Buds, a few Leaves, plus something that looks like a mini carnation that is no longer available. I also tucked in a few White Double-head Stamens.

Tip: When I trim off the stem of a flower, I save the wire stem. Then I can curl those wires around a stylus to make curly, wire embellishments for my bouquet.
I created a sentiment on my computer and printed it onto white cardstock. I used a die to trim out the sentiment strip. I actually cut the strip several times and stacked the strips together to give the sentiment a bit of dimension.
I added a few enamel dots in shades of purple to give some shine and dimension to the card.

Thanks for joining me on the Hop today! Make sure to hop along and see all the other projects!

Here is the RRR Blog Hop Order in case you get lost!
