Really Reasonable Ribbon May Blog Hop

It is ribbon time again! I am here with the Really Reasonable Ribbon May Blog HopYou should be coming to my blog from the Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog. (For the complete blog list, scroll to the bottom of the post.) After visiting me, hop over to the spectacular Ginny's Blog next!

Here is a peeky at the RRR May Ribbon Club Assortment. This assortment is called Patriotic Collection. Look at all that fantastic red, white, and blue! Bonnie does a patriotic collection every year, and I look forward to it every time!
I love patriotic-themed projects and get so excited when that "season" rolls around each summer. I know that I will get a nice assortment of ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon for all my July 4th projects!
I went a diving into one of my bins to find something to make this month. I found four little photo albums from Creative Memories gathering dust in there! The books are only 4" x 3 1/4" and contain 16 wallet-sized photo sleeves. I think these were a hostess gift from Creative Memories in 2009! My dear friend Connie (who passed away in July 2010) gave me four of these, two red and two blue. I have never used them!

I decided to alter one for July 4th photos! It's a cute idea for a little brag book or for a gift.
I tied a double bow from the Red Plaid Ribbon and the Royal Blue Plaid Ribbon. After I tied the bows, I sprayed the ribbon with some sepia mist to give it an aged look. I wanted to hurry the dry time, so I tried to dry the ribbon with my heat tool. Well, that made the ribbon wrinkle and curl up a bit! Which made for a fun, grungy looking bow! I loved it. Happy accident!

I topped the bow with a loopy twine bow (Ivory Burlap String) and an epoxy star. I also used a tiny bit of the Satin American Flag Print ribbon to decorate the metal charm. I had fun digging through my stash to find things for this project. Much of what I used has been in the Hoard for AGES. One fun find was the red heart pin, to which I added a white teardrop pin. I used Copic markers to color a clear "glass" pin to get a red, white, and blue selection!

I discovered that the little photo sleeves inside the book fit a 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" piece of paper perfectly! That is also the size of the patriotic bingo cards!
I thought it would be fun to try a pocket page style of decoration for the little photo sleeves. I simply cut 16 pieces of decorative paper to size and slipped them into the sleeves. I then decorated the outside of the plastic sleeves with some bits and bobs from my stash!

Since all the lumpy decor is on the outside of the sleeves, photos can slide right into each one with no problem!

Just a fun and simple project, perfect for some wallet-sized photos!
Thanks for stopping by today! Now, hop over to Ginny's Blog to see what she has for you!
