365 Cards Scor-it Week - Gift Card Holder

Today's 365 Cards Scor-it challenge is to make a gift card holder. (I learned to make this card from a tutorial by VickiR at CropStop.)

My gift card holder is 4x4 and the perfect size to fit a Starbucks gift card!

Here are some step-by-step directions (modified a bit from Vicki's) for making this card with the Scor-it Mini. If you don't have a Scor-it, you can still use another scoring method to make the card.

1. Cut a sheet of cardstock to 4"x12".

2. Score in from the left at 4".

3. Score in from the right at 4".

4. Score the last panel from the crease to the bottom right edge, as shown.

5. Fold on all score lines so that your card looks like this:

6. Fold the flap down to the right, and glue closed. Also, place adhesive on the very bottom inside edge of the the back panel to create a pocket. (My sample card was made in a bit different manner, but this way is much easier to explain.)

Once I had the gift card holder assembled, I covered the base card with My Mind's Eye paper, and some DCWV and CTMH textured cardstock for accents. I found some flowers in my stash to jazz up the front. (My inspiration was a card sketch by Lucy that I found on Faith Sisters.)

Now, some notes about using the Scor-it Mini. What I loved about the Scor-it was the wonderful, deep crease I got EVERY time. Also, I had no issues with the tool slipping. The Scor-it was easy to use right out of the box. And the Mini is small enough to not take up a lot of space on my desk! Plus, the scoring tool attaches to the scoring platform with a bead chain, making it hard to lose on my messy desk!

One thing that I noticed was that in order to score a sheet of paper longer than 5.5 inches, I had to do it in sections. So the Mini is really only for standard card making. I'd recommend the larger Scor-it if you plan to make larger cards or use it for scrapbooking. Also, if you need to make a number of scores, you need to move the paper each time. You need to be careful that you line up with the correct measurement each time.

Bottom line: the deep crease I get with the Scor-it Mini makes it perfect for card making and small projects!

Stay tuned Monday and I'll have a another step-by-step tutorial for you!
