My Lifetime Story Challenge #4

Wednesdays are Scrapbooking days! This is the day when I show you my Faith Sisters My Lifetime Story challenge pages! This is challenge week #4, and so far I am having a blast doing each challenge. I am so proud to be on this DT and to be one of the few paper scrappers in the group. Many of the gals are digi scrappers, and I have to say, sometimes I think this would be a lot easier in the digi world than it is in the paper world! But, since I am NOT into digi...I am figuring it out with paper and glue dots!

Challenge #4 is to complete a layout about each of your parents. There are many ways to do this; a collage of your parents showing photos throughout the years (childhood to adult) would be a great place to start! Do you know any stories about their childhood? When and where were they born? Where did they grow up? List your mother's maiden name. Tell about their family (how many children). What do you know about their values, philosophy, and religious beliefs? What kind of work did they do? What memories do you have of them throughout your life? What important things have you learned from each of your parents? Other topics for continued layouts about your parents would be things like: What details do you know about their dating and wedding? What were their hobbies or traditions?

For me, this will be a lot of pages, not just one or two! I have a lot of photos and stories. (Some stories are private and not for the blog.) But I have three pages to show you today to give a start to the pages I want to create of my parents.

This first page (created brand new for the challenge) is of my parents right after they married in 1948. They had a "rush" marriage and there were no photos taken, so this is the closest I have to a wedding photo. I have not typed up the story yet, but I will add that as hidden journaling behind the photo.

I used products from my LSS Club kit. (TNT ladies, don't look! You will see this in person on Feb. 9th!) The paper is Creative Imaginations (notebook) and The Paper Company. I also punched a border with a Martha Stewart punch. I cut the swirls with a Sizzix die. The larger blue flowers are from Oriental Trading Company and the small ones are Prima. (I used a Practical Scrappers sketch for this page layout.)

The next page is one you may have seen before here on the blog. But I want to put it in my Lifetime album so am showing it again. This is one I made of my mom a year or so ago. There is a photo of her as a girl, then one taken here at my house when she visited us in 2006. Mom will be 80 in February, and I think she still looks pretty awesome! The journaling talks about how she always has had time to listen to me talk - on and on about nothing!

The flowers are faux leather from Petaloo. I blinged them up with buttons, brads, and gems. The paper is My Mind's Eye.

This last page is one I also made some time ago, but have never shown it on the blog. This is of my dad's military service. I found these photos of him in his dress uniform and in his BDUs. He was a handsome devil.

The paper and embellies are Karen Foster. I used Staz-On ink to stamp onto the metal "dog tag" to add "call to arms" on it. I have the chain fastened with some mini glue dots.

Thanks for stopping by! (I need ONE MORE Follower to get to 100....will it be you?! There will be a RAK when I reach 100...so watch for details about that!)
